N/S Mike Evans is staying with the buccaneers (1 Viewer)

Maybe it's because I usually only watch the Bucs when the Saints play them and Lattimore owns him, but I have never been that impressed with Evans to see him as a 1st ballot HOF'er. He's a good WR, but I don't see him as one of the top few guys in his era. I can see him in if he has a few more great years, but I don't see him as a transcendent player in an era where every team seems to have a receiver in his range of talent.
He's not a transcendent player, I'd agree with that. He's never once led the league in any receiving category. He's likely to end his career in the Reggie Wayne category of statistics, and that's borderline Hall of Fame without question though -- and who knows, he's just now 31. He might still get even more than Wayne.

It's worth noting Evans certainly did it with many different QBs too, from Josh McCown to Jameis to Fitzpatrick to Brady to Baker. He's been consistently good with any QB, which does say something as well. He's also been extremely healthy overall, and you could count on him to be there week in and week out.

He's been worth every penny and the draft capital the Bucs spent on him, even if not transcendent necessarily. If he was a Saints player, we'd love him. But he's not, and Lattimore has owned him, so we love that fact instead.

Like I said, I think he's probably a HoFer now and if he has a few great years he could be a 1st ballot HoFer. Just don't think he's a sure fire 1st ballot guy. It will depend on who retires the same years as him. But, sure he was worth the draft capital they used to get him. And, like I said some of my view toward him is that I usually see him play against Lattimore who the vast majority of the time makes Evans look average, but I know that's not the case against most teams.

And watch we trade Latt for a second and watch Taylor get burned/benched/ get a pick/ then benched again. All year
Maybe try just once to rag on the guy signing with the division rival instead of the players on the team you cheer for? Here, I'll demonstrate:

Mike Evans, what a boring and unspectacular compiler. Sure, he's had 1000+ yards in every season of his career, but there's a 1006 and a 1001 in there where he needed late-game, season finale forced action to get over the 1000-yard mark. He has zero notable plays in his entire 10-year career and only even has those kinds of TD numbers because that franchise hasn't had a short-yardage back worth a squirt since the day Mike Alstott hung em up. He has as many AP first-team All-Pro nominations as I do, and I work in heels. Even the media agrees that he's boring. As Saints fans, we certainly know the way Marshon Lattimore gets under his skin, but even when Lattimore covers other Bucs receivers, it's not like Evans is good enough to capitalize. Fifteen games of looking like Shaq O'Neal in pads and cleats, then when the black & gold take the field against him he's softer than a virgin daiquiri. Get out of here with all this Mike Evans talk.

At 26mil/yr they can have him. I wish he would’ve got them to do a 4-year deal at that price because he’s likely to fall off a cliff at some point in the next four years.

May be trouble for us since we likely won't have his Daddy on the team anymore.

Exactly. It's the strangest thing. When I watch Evans I just don't see it. A week later I see highlights and he can't be stopped. He was a beast in fantasy when I played. So I know he's a great player, I just haven't seen much of it. Can't think of too many first ballot HoF WRs who were completely taken out of games twice a year by a division opponent off the top of my head.

Am I the only one that thinks it's a little funny Jameis was the one that started the whole thing.

Just me? Ok
