Speculation [Mod Edit] New York Post’s Justin Tasch reports that Jets reporter Brian Costello says Aaron Glenn told people that the Jets are his first choice (139 Viewers)

It's incredible that the only owner in the league more psychotic than Jim Irsay continues to dupe people into working for him.

Yes, the Jets are in better shape from a roster and salary cap perspective. No, the Jets do not have a better FO than the Saints do. They don't even have a GM in place. Finally, I wouldn't live in or near New York for free. The mere thought makes me nauseous.

That said, the Jets are the one organization that Glenn has deeper ties to than the Saints. I can absolutely believe this story is true, and mentioned it in the McCarthy thread. If you get in front of McCarthy and he's still got the juice to endure a soft rebuild, you don't let him leave the building without a signed contract. Glenn is far from a sure thing to choose the Saints. The rest of the candidates we're involved with are more likely to bust than to succeed. McCarthy is the guy we need at this juncture.
The fact that McCarthy has early ties to us may work in our favor because I'm starting feel like we we will be last on the list.

Maybe he sees the interest in McCarthy from the Saints as a sign that he’d be on strike #2 with them and doesn’t want to go through that again or it’s his way of putting pressure on the Saints to make a choice

Just like most players live in Kenner, I'm sure people choose leisure in NYC, though.

Sure and NY is only like an hour from their facility. Just saying it's not like most Jets players/coaches would be living in NY. Plus, Glenn is 52 and has a family so his NY partying days are likely mostly over anyway.

Just curious, where do you live?

I just can’t believe that a coach would say his first choice is the Jets.

You are not winning that division ANYTIME soon.

Organization seems to be dysfunctional

Can’t even have your own stadium 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s the same reason that if Deuce McAllister went into coaching and found himself to be a hot coaching candidate that he’d chose us over the Cowboys…it means something to these guys to go back to where they were stars to coach.

That’s some destiny/fate/“will of the football gods” type stuff you don’t mess with if you get the opportunity.

Jersey is absolutely beautiful, Kenner is disgusting to me.

Maybe that was rude, I’ll rephrase, towns like Wayne and others in Jersey blow Kenner out the water in my opinion.

Yes, Saints have a worse front office and worse salary cap. Not to mention living in Nola vs NY.
Since Woody bought the team they’ve had 14 losing seasons the Saints have had 4

How can you say they have a better front office? They don’t even have a GM.

We do have a worse salary cap but there is absolutely zero case for a worse front office to be debated

I see this as a no name beat reporter telling fans what they want to hear.

No way something like that is actually getting out from a coaching candidate in the middle of a playoff run.

I wasn't referring to him, but if I could afford a condo in NYC, I would, just as a jazz fan. It's still the entertainment mecca. However, if you want a big house, you have to go to Jersey or Connecticut.

Fair enough, just the combo of Loomis DA and Pete Carmichael has got me with ptsd
