Multiple RBs gaining 1st round draft buzz around the NFL (1 Viewer)

Indeed, we have no idea what the new staff will do during the draft. But we can be very, very sure that this forum will be lively shall we say, during and after the draft.

It’s interesting that the prevailing discussion on the board has been Ward, Dart, Sanders, Jeanty, Warren: offensive players. The defense last season was worse than the offense and less injured. Just throwing that out there…
Ahhh, yes. Lest we forget that defense wins championships. For example, our '09 team that won it all would've been merely a carbon copy of the '08 team (7-9) had they not bolstered the secondary and gotten all those turnovers.

Reason I'm fine with being resigned to a cornerback with the pick at 9 since Graham isn't too likely to fall to us. A corner like Johnson at 9 and another Mason -- Taylor, that is -- at 40 would be super-fine.

As for RBs, the middle rounds figure to be a good spot to find a good one, with how deep it is. One of the two guys from Ohio State might well be available there.

*sigh* So many needs, though, and only a few picks to help address them.

In an ideal world you get Tyler Warren and Treveyon Henderson at 9 & 40 respectively
If it’s not Jeanty…I’m playing “chicken” at the RB position. Teams know the depth of this class and it’ll push RBs down. I’d take two RBs after round 3…and there’s a very good chance that one will be better than Miller.

Probably a function of the quality of offensive prospects likely to be available at 9 versus the quality of defensive players + our offensive head coach presumably wanting to exert an offensive philosophy with his first ever draft pick + the need for a long term answer at QB.

If there was another Abdul Carter, another Mason Graham, or a healthier sure fire top 10 stud at CB available, we’d likely see more threads about defenders I think.

Many of the guys set to be there at 9 have some major flaw that has people shying away from the thought of taking them at 9, I think.

The important thing is to get the best player— offensive or defensive—at #9. It’s actually a strange advantage to need so many upgrades. It almost doesn’t matter what position gets drafted.

Crazy how polarised people’s opinions are on Dylan Sampson. Seen everything from 2nd to 6th rd grades on him. I’d like him in rd 3-4 but reckon he’ll be gone by early 3
Tennessee ran a scheme that created a lot of light boxes for him so I think a lot of people wonder if his production will translate. I think he’ll be fine. If that makes him fall into the 4th round, it could be a home run. He’s only 20 years old and could probably give you 10-15 touches right now. In most classes he’d probably go late second round, but agree that he could slip because there are so many RBs in his tier.

Tyler Warren also runs the wildcat.

Tyler Warren, a tight end for Penn State, was utilized in Penn State's offense in various ways, including being part of a jumbo Wildcat package where he lined up at quarterback. He was used as a runner and blocker in the Wildcat, and also caught a TD, made a must-see one-handed grab, and threw for a TD in a game

No to Henderson. The guy just doesn't have the physical capability of staying healthy in the NFL. Seemingly tearing ligaments and fractures in his legs/feet. If he's having those issues in college, he's gonna have way more trouble in the NFL.

Doubly hard pass. Kaleb Johnson, Skattebo and Dylan Sampson would be better. Raheim Sanders is an extremely good runner to but dealt with knee issues that ended up sapping some of his speed/cut ability, and I don't want him drafted either.
