This organization is in a bubble of its own awareness regarding this draft and focusing on making this team better to maximize Kellen Moore’s success. Loomis is sky high right now that he landed Moore who he sees as a special talent as an offensive minded head coach. There’s a sense of calm and anticipation on airline drive.

Any outside opinions will have no bearing on how they move forward. Kellen Moore will get his guy and the Saints will select Jaxson Dart as the second ever QB taken in the first round in franchise history.

Let the pundits do what they do while Moore gets to work getting Dart ready to run his elite offensive scheme. This board will explode.

With pick 40 the Saints select CB Trey Amos also from Ole Miss. CB is a top 3 need and Amos fits a zone scheme.

With pick 71 the Saints select a wide receiver in this scenario it’s Tre Harris making it a trio of Ole Miss players with the first 3 picks. Dart gets a familiar target to grow alongside with and the offense gets a taller receiver that it’s been looking for.

With Pick 93 I considered a guard but by signing Dillion Radunz we have some wiggle room and we really need to bring in a running back who could potentially start and compete for the backup role.

DJ Giddens is the pick here and he’s pretty solid but not the most explosive.

With pick 112 the Saints select Q Robinson edge rusher Alabama. He’s super explosive off the edge and can be a good situational rusher that fits Staley’s mold and has a lot of upside.

With pick 131 the Saints select Jack Kiser LB Notre Dame. Kiser is a solid all around linebacker who can develop into a starter. With Demario aging and other guys in contract years it’s smart to add a linebacker in this draft.

With pick 184 the Saints select Emery Jones GUARD out of LSU. Jones needs to move inside. He can develop into a starter as a guard. Yes he struggled at tackle in college but he has athletic upside as an IOL.

With pick 248 in round 7 the Saints select TE Moliki Matavao who I mentioned in the Sneaky Draft Picks thread as a guy who has good athleticism and skills but not much acclaim.

I would bet $$$ that we do not take Dart @ 9. You do not take a QB in the top 10 that does not have at least 1 elite trait. Amos will more than likely be gone @ 40 and Harris won't be there @ 71.
Silly take. He has plenty of elite traits which is why he finished the season with a higher quarterback rating then Cam Ward and Sanders, and out of the 3 was the only QB doing it against SEC defenses.

If we came away in this draft with Dart, Tre Harris, Amos and Kiser I would be doing back flips. Not sure on Gidden as an NFL RB. And while I really like Kiser in college, his low RAS gives me pause for the NFL. I can't help but wonder if Stutsman would be much better.

But overrall, awesome draft with loads of potential. The only way it could be better is if we somehow came away also with 2 of the following 3, Skattebo, Conely Jr (OT) or Mason Taylor/Luke Lachey

FWIW, Dart would be the third QB the Saints used a 1st round pick on. The first was Manning, but they also took Dave Wilson in the 1st round of the 1981 supplemental draft.

I'm not particularly high on Dart and think #9 is too high for him, but I'll give Moore the benefit of the doubt if he thinks he can build an offense around Dart's talents. I'd like the pick better if it were at #40 but given how QBs are overdrafted, I doubt Dart makes it to the second so if Moore really likes him, I'm fine with reaching for what he would apparently think was his franchise QB.

That being said, I could also see Sanders being the pick at #9.

Both of those QBs would, IMO, be reaches at #9. But, as I said, QBs get over drafted, often by a full round, so if you want one you often have to reach. Also, in the draft, I'm not sure there will be a true difference maker, or possibly not even a player with a first round grade, available at #9 so if you are going to reach for a QB maybe this is the right year to do it?

Thank you. I'm so tired of hearing the Saints haven't drafted a QB in the first round since 1971 ... We would have had the third overall pick in 1982 except we used that for Wilson in the 1981 Supplemental Draft. It still counted (and cost us) as a first-round pick in '82. We got Lindsay Scott in the first round in 1982 as part of the trade that send Wes Chandler to the Chargers (it was actually the Packers' first round pick they traded to San Diego).

That’s why I said “common draft” but I see your point. Still if you count the other guy Wilson that’s 2 QBs and super rare.

I could dig it.

Please can we move this to the mock draft thread, mods? We get it, you like to use mock draft simulators. There's a whole thread dedicated to this.
