My new projected opening 53 man roster (2 Viewers)

Matt Simon has made some impressive plays in training camp so i wouldnt rule him out, he at least is practice squad material since we have a ton of receivers. I wouldn't count him out of the regular roster just yet though

I keep hearing great things. I've yet to go to camp, but two friends who have gone to every open practice, have talked about Simon's excellent play every time. If he plays his way into thay 6th spot, he'll get it - especially if Smith and Grant won't count against the roster 'til week four.

As for anthony Waters, he seems to be fighting to back-up Fujita as well as Vilma.

Actually, Casillas is competing at WLB, not on the strong side. Same for Troy Evans. Dunbar and Waters are competing at SLB.

Sorry, I meant to say WLB first and then SLB. But the official depth chart has Dunbar moved over to WLB to compete against Casillas and Shanle not Waters.

Here is mine:

Not bad, but IMO there is no way that Brunell is not our backup.
Dunbar is a serviceable backup & way too valuable on SP teams to not make it.
I'd like to see Herb Donaldson over Lynell

I doubt Sean Payton is going to only keep 7 Offensive linemen and 11 defensive backs seems like overload on the active roster. That would be running way to thin for as offensive line is concerned. You also left off Heath Evans the FB. Also Jason Kyle the long snapper is left off. Will Smith and Grant will not count towards 53 man roster first 4 games due to suspensions.

Payton likes to have quarterbacks on the roster. So, we'll keep all three. Brunell will be 2nd string. Also, make no mistake, WITHOUT DREW BREES, you can start talking about next season. This team cannot win without its best player. Most teams can't.

Payton has only carried two QB's at the start of the season. Since he has been the Head Coach. With one on the practice squad.

You're only carrying 4 interior linemen.

yes... Ellis, Clancy, coleman, and pressley... I think the fact that Grant can move inside as well as spicer plays a part. Also, we might use a 3-4 defense 20 to 30% of the time, so the NT/DT is full...

I meant offensive linemen. I understand 4 DTs with Spicer and potentially Grant switch-hitting.

Where are you getting this 3-4 defense business?

GW talked about it.......the latest mention was from Jeff Duncan:

"Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams mixes personnel packages as often as Sean Payton does on offense. On a given series, the Saints might switch from their base 4-3 set to a 3-4 alignment with Scott Fujita and Bobby McCray as stand-up outside linebackers, to an Elephant front, which features three linemen and defensive end Bobby McCray as a roving wildcard.

Players say the Saints have as many as 26 personnel packages they can employ each game. That's about twice as many as last season.
