I also saw on rotoworld that the Vikings are interested and they have a higher first round pick than the Bucs. Could be something to watch for on draft day.

The Chiefs are willing to listen to trade offers for Jared Allen, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter and FoxSports.com. He is visiting Minnesota on Friday and is expected to visit Tampa next Friday.

Allen is one of the five most valuable defensive players in the NFL, so any trade for him would be a blockbuster. It's a curious move by the Chiefs, who placed the franchise tag on Allen. They can rebuild with draft picks, but they are admitting they can't afford to keep their top talent. Allen will likely require a huge contract, a first-round pick, and probably more for any interested suitors. Minnesota has a higher first round pick than Tampa and is likely the favorite. Look for a trade on or before draft day.

jared allen is a very good DE, not exactly liking the idea of facing him twice a year.

Believe it or not Allen is one of the best DE's in the league...he creates turnovers. He's pretty young too, I'm sure they wouldn't have to give up that much though!

They'd have to give up alot more then that. The 1st rounder would have to be this year, DUI's aside. Next years 1st and 5th wouldn't get this done unless KC is some kind of crazy desperate.

If both picks are next year, thats a 2nd and 5th rounder (value wise) for Jared Allen. KC would have to be high to accept that offer.

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings are considering offering their first-round pick and second-round pick in next year's NFL Draft to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for DL Jared Allen, according to sources.

from the same website it looks like the vikings might be putting together a better offer, potentially, so it will be interesting to see if it turns into a bidding war

That's true. If KC trades away Jared Allen, then they will probably seriously consider C. Long or Gholston. That's a good thing. It keeps them away from Dorsey or Ellis.


Let's hope that Allen gets traded to someone (hopefully not in our division for Brees' sake) and KC take C Long. Man with Balt losing McNair to retirement and possibly KC trading Franchised J Allen, everyone's draft boards will really be shifted around.

Next years 1st and 2nd sounds more realistic. If the Vikings take a DE like Merling this year, they'll be down right nasty on defense.
