N/S Is Bushrod bound to underachieve in Chicago? (2 Viewers)

The way Cuttler holds the ball, Bushrod will look like a complete bust. And then Cuttler will scream at him as he walks off the field. Mark it down.

He is going to be playing almost all his games outdoors...i will be interested to see how he holds up in December under not so good field conditions.

With all of these former saints underachieving on their respective teams such as Robert Meachem (San Diego) and Carl Nicks (Tampa Bay), is it fair to assume that Jermon Bushrod will underachieve as well? Thoughts?

I didn't think injuries really count as underachieving, if Nicks plays at 90% of the level he did in New Orleans when he comes back from his injury, if he's not already back, he will still be one of the best guards in football. I haven't heard anything about his game suffering since he went to Tampa, just that he was injured and couldn't play. I don't like Nicks personally, at least I didn't like the way he left and some of the things he said about NO when he did, I think Kharma caught up to him with the injury but I suspect he will be a great player for years to come.

I remember when we let Willy go because he had just had his 3rd or 4th knee surgery at 30? and most Saints fans and obviously the front office thought he didn't have any good years left. Well we know he went on to be a 6-7 year starter for Kansas City making the Pro Bowl 5x with them.

Yes. He will look like a clueless, unathletic statue when Cutler is out there, unable to dodge the oncoming deluge of pass rushers, unlike Brees who makes mediocre lineman like Bushrod look great.

Brees over the years has helped a lot of offensive lineman with their pocket books!
I cannot remember a better pocket presence for any QB in my recent memory.

Bushrod is an upgrade for the Bears, I can't see him being worse than what they had previously.

Everyone knows that if you give Bushrod help, he will succeed.

and this is going to be his downfall in chicago.

the bears dont have the interior o-line presence that the saints have. in new orleans , bushrod succeeded because they were able to slide the interior line or scheme in chips when needed, on top of drew's ability to seamlessly slide inside the pocket.

hes going to be expected (or at least i think they are hoping he will be able) to sit on an island in chicago and handle his man 1on1.

i think with time, kromer can make that line a good unit, but it's going to take time and teaching/upgrading sub par personnel
