Chiefs QB Matt Cassel underwent an appendectomy this morning, according to a league source. Big question mark for Sunday now.
Tough luck for the Chiefs...

Also explains why Palko was activated to the active roster today.

Wow and they go to San Diego this weekend... hope he recovers. Missing a football game has nothing on Appendicitis.

that sucks, i'm sure he is ok, but this game could clinch the division for KC

Anyone had one of these that can comment on the recovery? Chiefs have been interesting this year, I'd hate to see them lose ground because of this.

Tyler Palko = Sean Canfield = Doug Nussmeier :jpshakehead:

He'll get lots of ice cream in the recovery room if he wants it.

Oh wait, that's what happens when an 8 year-old has an appendectomy. Sorry.

Cassel has been playing well this season, but they're a run-first team anyway with both Jamaal Charles and T. Jones playing lights out in the backfield so I'd expect both of those guys to get 25 carries each and not miss a step at all. They'll probably have their backup QB be a game-manager much like what Jason Campbell is doing in Oakland

Recover from a appendectomy in 4 days to play football? I seriously doubt that, they'll be lucky to have him the following week.

I've had one myself, and i don't see how anyone could get that procedure then be able to play football in 4 days. Now obviously i'm no pro athlete so i'm sure that he'll recover quicker but it took me about a week before i was moving around okay, probably at least another week to be about normal, who know's how long for football, i would guess he'll be out at least two weeks.

This is horrible timing. I have them at 150-1 to win the super bowl and am planning on hedging once they make the playoffs. A win this weekend could put them at the worst a half of a game from clinching the division. They are also trailing by 1 game for a first round bye.

More Cassel details: It was laparoscopic surgery on his appedix, which often is less invasive. But still, having had it, tough bounce back.

Chiefs announce that QB Matt Cassel underwent an appendectomy Wed. Procedure was successful. Chiefs say expect him 2 return 2 work thisweek.

Even with laparoscopic surgery, I say they are pretty optimistic about his return this week. I've tried it and while no professional athlete I still remember my stomach muscles hurting badly for more than a week. I couldn't imagine what it must feel like to try to throw a ball under those circumstances.

yeha but you don't recieve the treament and care they do. the teams has alot vested in its players, cassell will have 24 hour access to everything, then on gameday he'll get shot up with so many painkillers he won't feel a thing. just ask brett favre

24 TD's and 4 INT's is "just playing well". Sure, he's not asked to pass like Drew, but he's playing great ball right now and is as much of the reason they're atop their division as any player on that team.

If he doesn't play this week, KC loses by two scores.
