N/S Patriots release WR Ochocinco, after unsuccessfully attempting to trade him (1 Viewer)

A team full of rookie WRs would do well to pick him up. He seems like the sort of guy that would have no problem mentoring.

I never watched enough Bengals games to know if this is true or not, but I read at several places that he was fond of ditching the play and "freelancing" on routes in Cincinatti, and he had great success getting open with it.

Supposedly that didn't fly in New England and he could never wrap his head around the playbook.

TJ Houshmandzadeh agrees.

According to Bengals.com, T.J. Houshmandzadeh used to tell Chad Ochocinco where to line up on offense in Cincinnati.
Ochocinco's cavalier attitude toward the playbook started long before his one-year stop-over in New England. Ochocinco's offensive freelancing certainly didn't endear him to Carson Palmer or former Bengals OC Bob Bratkowski, now in Jacksonville. There's also belief in the Queen City that Ochocinco never played as hard again after being nailed by Browns safety Brian Russell in the 2006 home opener. "If I went with Tom Brady and didn't produce, I'd hang it up," Houshmandzadeh said of Ochocinco's 2011 struggles.

I don't doubt you there. Teams with youthful WR or lack of inexperience like a Jacksonville, Seattle, Miami.

Devery/Colston/Lance are great mentors for Toon/Morgan/Arrington. Henry Ellard makes a pretty strong case too :)

Loomis, I know this goes against every fiber of your being but please, please for the love of God don't make it happen!

Based on what's coming out about why he got cut, getting mentoring from him would be a bit like taking grammar lessons from an illiterate person.
