N/S Sam Bradford and Other Ou players Presser at 4 30 (1 Viewer)

Tebow and Bradford are polar opposites in this situation. Tebow's stock as a QB can only go up from here and Bradford's can only go south. The Matt Leinart comparison is spot on. I'm all for continuing education(see Myron Rolle), but to risk a lucrative career just to be big man on campus for another year is foolish. I admire the kid for his loyalty to OU and wanting to finish his degree on time, but I don't agree with the decision to go back. Business wise he's getting some pretty bad advice. It's time for you to go Sam.

Per Rotoworld... basically they think if he came out know, while he'd be the top QB.. he'd have BUST written all over him.

Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford and TE Jermaine Gresham announced at a press conference Wednesday that they will stay in school for 2009.

Bradford probably would've left had the Sooners won last Thursday, but he can use the extra seasoning. The track record for underclassmen QBs in the pros is stunningly poor. Gresham likely would've been the first tight end drafted after catching 14 touchdowns as a junior. Bradford's return may impact USC QB Mark Sanchez's decision. Sanchez is currently on the fence

Really?

What is a degree going to get him a job? He can already get one without a degree. This is a massively dumb decision. What is there possibly to gain?[/QUOTE]

Ya ever think maybe it is not about the money? How can anyone call this a dumb decision? Is this what we are coming to? So many on this board complain about how much money these kids are making out of college (they don't deserve it, they haven't proven anything yet), but when this young man decides he has something more important on his mind than football, we get crazy statements like the one quoted. Right now he has got it made, on top of world, easy street. What do ya think will happen when he hits the NFL? Pressure, pressure, and more pressure to prove he is worth the money and draft that was spent on him. Crazy posters on forums saying he was a bust. Sport writers wondering where the talent went. Let him have some fun while he can and stop living vicariously through these football players.

If he really didn't want to go to Detroit, he coulda just said something before the draft. Detroit is in no position to take a chance on a player who doesn't want to be on their team despite making a huge amount of money. I believe he was inclined to stay another year because he didn't win the National Championship as opposed to maybe becoming a Lion.

I think it's the right idea. Most quarterbacks who have come out after their junior season have not fared well at the pro level. In fact, I cannot think of any QB who came out as a junior and did well. I can think of all the failures such as Vince Young (though the book is sort of still be written on him), Michael Vick, Heath Shuler, Alex Smith, etc.

Sure, there's the chance of getting hurt. And there's also the chance of dropping in the draft due to being overly scrutinize as was the case for Brian Brohm, Brady Quinn, and Matt Leinart. But the QBs who have been most successful have been those who chose to stay that extra year and get another year of experience under their belts.

Yes because Brady and Leinart have been great in the NFL. ;) Your either good or not.

Bad move on his part. Most people go to college so they can have a successful career and make decent money doing something they enjoy. I can't think of many better jobs than playing football for 5-7 months out of the year an potentially make millions doing it. Hell I'd play for the lowest paying spot. Which by the way pays more than most jobs that require a college degree.

I really think if he would of came out in the draft this year, He would of probably faced sliding down the draft boards on draft day similar to Brady Quinn. IMHO, GM's have become suspicious of underclassman QB's.

You can bet Sam Bradford had someone in his ear guiding his decision to stay another year after the Florida game which was not all that impressive.

Bradford is still a kid. He's probably not mentally ready for the NFL.

This is stupid! The kid is a top 5 pick and probably #1. How can you think your stock will not fall by staying. I thought Tebow staying was a great idea since many believe that he will not do well in the NFL. Tebow can learn more with another year and show people that he can be a pocket passer but Bradford is just going to get himself hurt and hurt his stock. IT is a bad idea for sure
