I know this isn't purely Saints related, and we are in the throws of arguing... uh discussing... which draft picks we think our beloved team should pick, but I thought this article had some interesting pieces of information in it.

For one, Taylor gave one of the guys $10,000 in a paper bag as a birthday present. In the process they saw more money in the house and it seems they went back when they thought he wasn't home to steal it...

So sad. But also a warning to rich players, don't show people your money or give anyone the idea that they can get away with cash by robbing your house... I would applaud giving away sums of money to people in need the way that Taylor apparently did, very kind of him. Just don't let them see cash money that gives them the impression they can come back and steal it when you're away at a game...

Seems his regular appearances on ESPN would be enough of a tip that he may have large sums of cash in his home.:idunno:

I don't understand that, but, whatever.

I have been saddened by this, it seems here in S Fla there is senseless murder every day. Not nearly every day, every darn day!

I hope all NFL players have come to an understanding that these thugs are out there and dangerous.

I don't know how they got the jump on him, I'd think rich folks have very good alarm systems, but regardless, it happened.

"He said Taylor gave Johnson $10,000 in a paper bag as a birthday present, and that he saw other large sums of money in the house."

He gave his sister some under the table cash. I would too if I was rich, so the tax man doesn't know about it.

But in private only. I wonder how the thug knew?

So sad. Players, be careful!

Athletes can't be open to anybody... Thats sad I still think about Sean Taylor everytime I see the Redskins or when a NFL game is on. Especially, watching NFL Network reruns thoughout the season.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor, Gone But Not Forgotten We still miss you.

I don't understand that, but, whatever.
My point was that celebrities don't have to flaunt cash to be targeted. Everyone knows they have cash and valuables. I don't know why it's so hard for people to just ask, if they're unclear about something posted, but whatever.

just because you are a professional athlete does not mean you have loads of cash just sitting around your house or in a safe.

I you were rich would you leave it around your house where the guy mowing your yard could see it in plain site?

I dont think so.

Taylor dieing was a tragic but he could have protected himself a little better by doing several things. First keep your money in a bank where it belongs. the only people who have money laying around like that are drug dealers and gangsters who do not want their money being tracked through bank records.

I would like to hear from Drews gardener and see if he has seen money just laying around the house and if he has seen Drew hand people cash in a brown bag for a birthday present!

No harm intended, (but my mother was rich before my sister stole it all), and at her house you'd be hard pressed to come up with enough cash to pay for a pizza delivery, LOL! But I'm serious.

I doubt that rich people are as likely to have large amounts of cash in the house as you seem to think.

Well it says Mitchell (on of the suspects) stayed with Taylor doing house work, we would see money lying around during that time. But probably didn;t try and steal it then because a 6' somethjing 230 pound hard hitting nfl safety probably would have the jump on who did it.

He went back a month later with some friends and tried to rob the man, but subsequently murdered the man instead.

Considering, armed robbery carries a life sentence, murder carries a life sentence, forceful entry into someone's house carries what 15 - 20 years. Then there are the gun charges, being that the killer was 17 he probably wasn't licensed to carry, loaded weapon without a license etc. so hopefully none of these guys never see the sun again.

I don't think taylor did anything wrong, gave his sister 10 grand as a gift. Had one of her friends over to get some coin in the pocket and earn some money. Careful or not, people suck, players or not peopel get robbed everyday. Soceity is just in a bad way today, how many random deaths do you read about every year. SO sad is right. Not to much anyone can do when someone has no reguard for your life or thier own.

"Large sum" may mean different things to someone doing odd jobs and scrapping together gas money. You don't have a clue what Drew does, either. I doubt Taylor left Gs around for people he's unfamiliar with to steal.

RIP Meast..sad that by doing something generous for a family member you put your OWN life at risk, just by helping somebody
always has been one of my fav players..ever since i got his autograph at one of his first games at Da U..been in love with watching you play ever since..

Many people leave large sums around the house , some very large. more people than you think.

I think it went down a little different than people think it did..

From what Rumors that are circulating around, Sean's sister knew one or all of the Thugs that were involved in the shooting and the way they found out about possible cash is either she told one of them she was going to get a loan/gift of cash from her brother to pay off something or someone, and the other is one of the guys knew Sean and his Routine and knew somehow that his sister was asking for some money and knew Sean was going to loan it to her, and they tried to make it to Seans house before he got back from his Routine and before his sister showed up for the Gift of cash so they can get it before they get back, Sean was probably bad with handling money and people knew he withdrawals large sum's of cash and leave it in his home, but anyway the murder occurred because they were surprised to see Sean and his sister at the house already..

But a lot of people around that knew Sean around here in Tampa and Miami believe his sister know's one of the guy's and will not talk.

Doesn't mean it's not a terrible decision. There's no reason whatsoever to ever have more than a couple thousand in cash, and even that is stretching it, no matter how rich you are. It would be stupid for Warren Buffet to leave $5,000 laying around, because not only is it not safe, but that money is losing value.
