Need Parking recommendation for Saints Game.... (1 Viewer)

Flying in for the Bucs/Saints game in the dome. Will be staying on the West Bank.

I had the idea of getting downtown early, parking at Harrah's. Then walking over to Cafe' du Mons for breakfast, then caually making our way to the dome.

Is this a good idea? Does anyone know how much Harrah's will charge for parking? are their better options? I figured the cost would be a least $20.

The last time i came down for a game, i had a hotel on Canal St. so it was a non issue.

Why not take the Algiers ferry as a pedestrian? It drops you off at the foot of Canal St., which is central to just about everything. You can avoid the traffic after the game and the ferry is free, although you may have to pay to park in a lot near the ferry terminal on the west bank.

I second the ferry idea. Get a cocktail at Old Point before and you've got yourself a booze cruise across the river.

Also, I recommend Cafe Beignet over CDM. The experience isn't the same as sitting on the Square (get a doggy bag if you want), but the beignets are better, IMO.

Algiers Point street parking is limited to two hours, but I don't know if that includes weekends.

Harrah's parking is cheap IF you have a Harrah's players' club card (free) and spend a minimum amount of time gambling (not free). Half-an-hour used to be the standard. Just slide your card into a slot machine, pull the handle, and drink for the next 30 minutes. Then get validated and you're on your way.

Harrah's isn't too expensive if you do end up doing that, I don't think it'd be $20... I haven't parked there without validating in a couple years so I can't be sure, but it's not bad

Harrahs is pretty good if you are a gambler. If not you might end up spending more

some westbank hotels offer free shuttles to the ferry and back to the hotel

Park by Cooter's, slam a few, hop the streetcar for a buck (or whatever it is now) and enjoy.
