If you watched the oral arguments, there seemed little doubt that the NFL would win. Legally, the NFL's position was much stronger.

Coaches contracts are completely different than players. That is why Payton couldn't appeal his suspension. They also get guaranteed contracts unlike players. You take the good with the bad.

Also, in fairness if you were caught sending emails at your job like Gruden sent about other people you worked with would your employer have the right to fire you? Goodell is a slime ball, no doubt but put this in context of reality. You can't say stuff like that about people or make those kind of comments on company emails and not face consequences.

I'm thinking that it's more a matter of WHAT he's suing for. As a matter of legality, some issues may be acceptable for arbitration, and some may not. If it becomes a matter of a bad faith claim, in that his representation (or the ability to fairly represent the issue at hand) is limited by factors that deny his constitutional rights,THAT may be cause for litigation, opening the entire mess in the justice system (which the NFL wants no part of).

Nevada and huge cash cow NFL...gambling, etc.... what could possibly be wrong with this picture in the eyes of actual justice ? My guess is a lot of people ( judges included ) probably owe their soul to the company store....

or he just signed a contract with an ironclad arbitration clause.
