Listening to Atlanta sportsradio this morning with former Falcon Brian Finneran
as one of the guests, he recalled a story this year after the second Atlanta/ New Orleans game. Finneran ran into Shanahan in the special parking lot following the Saints game in Atlanta this year. Shanahan said you feel the pressure facing Drew Brees with a 21 point lead and you must keep scoring. The Saints/Atlanta game played out like much like the Super Bowl.

May have played a part? I feel pretty confident that there's some voodoo lady somewhere we should all be thanking.

The game basically came down to a forgettable play. After recovering the onside kick the Falcons tried to run Freeman outside. He lost one yard. Shanahan immediately abandoned the run and had Ryan start flinging it. A sack and holding call took them out of field goal range. The rest is history.

Funny that the game turned when both teams abandoned the run.

Atlanta abandoned the run and lost while New England abandoned the run and won.

Yeah but New England...

started using their RB out of the backfield, like we used to use Sproles and Bush with the dump off passes.. kind of like a long distance hand-off to get away from the clutter of the LOS.... NE made some great halftime adjustments and their recievers started actually catching balls... too many dropped passes in the 1st half... either way it was great watching the carnage of the Turd birds. :ezbill:

Atlanta already choked up a 17 pt lead against the Chargers AT HOME this season. I knew at some point, that same quit would show up. Just so happens it was in the Superbowl lmao

On the Falcons forum, there is a thread discussing how the Falcons choked away 5 of their 6 losses this year.

They really do have a great handle on how to do it.

I said this yesterday...They are never a four quarter team. When we played them in the last game, I saw some flaws with their defense. They played complacent. We were one possession away from beating them

This is nonsense. They had big leads against Seahawks and Packers (playoff games) and won both games.

Flawed teams they caught on the right days, and both at home. The Seahawks were really on the downslide this year, and the Packers had just run off a seven-game win streak and were flat out of gas.

If both teams abandon the run, my money's on Brady, every single time.

The Pats were pretty ineffective with the run until late in the game. Falcons running game was really strong until the 4th quarter. I think they gave up on the run too soon. But credit to the Pats for making defensive adjustments.

Packers literally had no one on offense except Rogers. They certainly did not have a defense. If it wasn't for those early bone head mistakes from the Packers, it wouldn't had been a blowout.

I was wondering if Belichick picked SP's brain at some point the last 2 weeks. They have a good relationship and I would expect he would talk to SP a little since we play them twice a year.

Both teams they beat had major issues on each side of the ball. The Seahawks had no offense and the Packers no defense. The Pats are a complete team....hence Super Bowl champs again.
