N/S NFL Kickoff ‘23: Lions @ Chiefs (3 Viewers)

With all the talk about Mahomes and the lack of receivers, it should really make us appreciate 2021 (for those that actually paid attention to that season) a little more, considering we had the worse WR corp in the NFL who was lead the league in drops and bottom of the league in separation but we somehow started the season 5-2.

Last night's performance definitely reminded me of the 2021 Saints (Kadarius Toney - 5 targets, 1 catch, 1 yd, directly caused a pick six, dropped another crucial pass late in Lions territory).

But yeah, I went to 3 games in person in 2021. The receiving corps looked even worse in person b/c it was obvious that none of them were getting ANY separation except occasionally Deonte on deep balls.

Though it may have been better for us down the road if the Chiefs had won l really don’t care
All l have heard all off season is how good the AFC was and how bad the NFC was, was fun to watch last night

If anybody was wondering, Number 74 is still lined up two yards off the line of scrimmage.

I'm going to call it right now, the Saints will get called for an Illegal Formation penalty for not enough players lined up on the line of scrimmage on Sunday. The NFL front office will later say that the Refs were notified to make it a point of emphasis after the Thursday Night Game. (The point of emphasis will be used against the Saints.)

I would estimate that Kansas City lined up with an Illegal Formation on about half of their offensive snaps, maybe more. Some plays, maybe 25%, they only had five players on or near the line of scrimmage. Number 74 was lined up where his "front foot" was still behind the guards back foot and his back foot was sometimes about 8 feet from the line of scrimmage.

Well if the average TV spectator wasn’t aware of this infraction before last night’s game, they sure should know about it today because the announcers talked about it for the entire broadcast. They kept wondering why the referee wasn’t putting a stop to it. I believe the NFL has no choice but to bust the linemen of any team that is even close to being out of position and jumping early like #74 was doing all night.
