This season will mark the 50th anniversary of the Capitals in the NHL. I am hoping this will be celebrated together with Alex Ovechkin's 895th goal. He's "just" 42 goals away. Ovechkin just turned 39, and he looks every bit 49 . I haven't gotten a sense of how good the Capitals could be this season by the preseason action I've seen. I'm watching the dress rehearsal against the Bruins as I type...

Joe Beninati looks more and more like the Penguin

Pens made a few offseason moves, extending Crosby for an additional 2 yrs (after this year) so it looks like he will retire a Penguin. I think LeTang probably has 2 seasons left in him, but I think this may well be Malkin’s last season. Heard some rumblings that he might return to Russia and sign on with a KHL team after this season, but they are just speculation.

Brought in a couple players as well as a new assistant coach to hopefully help the power play which was just awful last season.

Just hoping they can get out to a strong start.
