I know what it does....I don't agree with it - but it is what it isThe method works. We simply use cap space from the future while other teams use current cap space, however some teams are starting to catch on to what we do.
It’s the same difference, same challenges, just annoying cosmetics to people that aren’t following the accounting closely or seeing that other teams have the same problems we do, just from a different circumstance since they’re confining themselves to singular years.
The books will be a lot cleaner by 2026 though.

Because at the arse end of it you're ultimately sticking yourself with a high priced player through their inevitable decline....and keeping them on the cap for years when they're off the roster. What do you not agree with though? How does it affect you if the team elects to cut a bonus check today for a player they know they want to keep for a cap space restructure rather than pay it over the course of a season?
Yeah, although if you wanted to keep up with this method, you could make the first year base of those deals small. It’s not as much space as it appears, we only have 39 players under contract so there goes roughly $13-14m just to fill the openings.
Then you need a practice squad, and need to factor in practice squad elevations as well as signing IR replacements, there's another ~$10m.
So with max restructures we're looking at less than $10m in space to push towards contracts in excess of league minimums.
The list of players that would need to be restructured is pretty insane. If these were our core guys for the future it would be one thing, but that isn't what this list is.
Cam Jordan is old and declining, Demario is old, Ramczyk is broken, AK and maybe even McCoy could be some of the malcontents from mid-season. A large part of the fanbase really dislikes Carr and are waiting for his 2025 release. Ruiz has been shaky at best. MT and Jameis will not be back. Peat might come back, but was benched to start the season and may want to see what else is out there for himself.
That is a long list of restructures you don't really want to see in my opinion.
