wonder if that would help the saints. i just watched a video of when the bengles did it, and they talked about how it helped establish a mindset for the players.

Oklahoma Drill: Not your average football drill - NFL Videos

Having done that a few times in high school ball I do not doubt that it makes you tougher. I was a 140 pound WR and I got the crap kicked out of me, came home with bruises all over the place. I sure learned how to take a hit though.

Interim Dolphins coach busts out Oklahoma drill | ProFootballTalk

Has them doing Oklahoma drills. This is wild. Midseason? I'm surprised this is even still allowed.

Not usually a midseason drill, but it does make a lot of sense to me.

I listened to coach Campbell's press conference yesterday and he went on and on about how he wants his whole team competing and how he is going to create a culture of competition with all of his players, from Suh and Tannehill to the practice squad guys.

guess that Tannehill quote about the practice squad guys is about to come full circle. LOL

Whenever we have a good year on defense, the biggest change I see is our tackling. In 2013, we made a ton of open field tackles, and stops from the first defender. Guys wrapped up, were in position, and took good angles of pursuit.

When we have bad years, the tackling is terrible. Everyone arm tackling, out of position, and whiffing on hits and tackles.

These guys are pros, but there is a lot to benefit from keeping the fundamentals fresh. I know we run a complex system, but there's a reason why some clubs can have successful units after so much turnover. They ensure the basics of a defensive athlete remain top priority.

Doing drills like this, even in mid-season, is a great way to stay polished in technique. Something I believe the Saints could really benefit from.

I know theres the injury risk, but I think its riskier for injury to send players on the field with poor technique.
