NS - What "graphic error" did ESPN just apologize for? (1 Viewer)

I was watching the halftime show of the jets game last night, and they showed a clip of Tom Brady's interview after his win.

The graphic under his mug? "has had 41 consecutive games with a TD completion".

The very next image on the screen was Brees after knocking off the failcons. Ya think there was any mention of his extending his record? Not a chance.

The talking heads hate us. Why? Because goodell hates us.

Why that is, I can only guess.

Thing is, that is deliberate. Very, very unlikely a typo. Funny for the interweb forums, but not for ESPN graphic scrolls.

Obviously the guy typing that has already met the same fate as Jimmy Hoffa.

The reason for the immediate apology if financial.

Lawyers were already lined up to take the case!

On ESPN, they also just called the the Steelers the "Black and Yellow" which, of course, they are, but I'm sure some fans will take offense for not being called the black and gold.

To be fair, I think they and everyone else gave Brees a lot of coverage and credit as he got close to and passed the record.

It was 52 year old record and before Brees and Brady the next two closest were 36 and 30 behind 47. Ironically, both Brees and Brady are at the same for the less important and publicized "uninterrupted games" streak, because Brees sat out the last game of 2009. Unitas had only 26 in one string without injury or skipped game.

If Brady's streak doesn't make it, I'd expect him becoming number 2 all time to be a big deal. TBH, long term it makes it more interesting as long as Brees stays ahead. It makes extending his record more noteworthy/relevant.

That's probably an inter office funny. Somebody in graphics mocked it up for a yuck with the boys, never intending for it to hit the air.

I have been in Tv production for decades and it always seems like those kind of jokes find their way onto the screen. Some kind of sick corollary to Murphy's law, cuz you can bet someone or several lost their jobs over that gaffe. My rule was always think it, say it, but don't ever put it in any form that could get published, because it would go public.

Funny, though. Hope it was worth it.

Agreed. Dink and drunk or drink and dunk would be probable typos, but getting both ends wrong is planned, especially considering Big Ben was involved.

Graphic guy either has another job lined up, got his walking papers, or really hates the Steelers....

Either way, he no longer works for ESPN... No chance that was a mistake

Nothing compares to last year when they had jeremy Lin as chink in armor instead of kink. That was ********.

After Pitt got penalized for cursing at an official, they panned the crowd and showed a fan flipping the bird at the official.
