O-line and D-line are Saints biggest problems (1 Viewer)

Better scouting. The Scouting department, particularly college scouting needs to be revamped and re-thought. Need new eyes a the minimum. Maybe adding Randy Mueller will help but I would like to see more change.
I know what the real problem is but I’m going to keep my mouth shut. The bleeding won’t end. I expect that Otton guy to have a career day next game. Good thing I’m starting him on my big money FF league

Also, we need to stop trading away draft picks and built through the draft once the scouting is better and maybe more so if it isn't so that we have more shots to get lucky. Can't treat the cap the way we do and not have the draft picks and scouting ability to fill out the starters and depth with good cheap players from the draft. Once we do that, we might have the money and assets for it to make sense to trade for a guy like Adams.

Can’t keep relying on UDFAs and below mid level guys to make big catches. People kept telling me Cedrick was a viable option. People keep singing these UDFAs praises. I keep hearing about CO being a #1 option.

its not just about this game. Shaheed couldn’t come down with the big catch last week. Tonight he stopped on the other one he couldn’t reel in. He’s ascending but he’s not a true route runner. Tipton should not be the guy we are relying on. CO just doesn’t command a side of the field like true #1s.

CO is a real #1 WR and he got the #1 WR treatment tonight. Problem is teams have figured out if you take away Olave, the rest of the Saints WRs aren't scary. Shaheed is really only consistent as a deep ball threat. Tipton is a rookie learning on the job. Wilson is a never was who is still a never was. Adams would be a huge boost to the Wide Receivers, but after tonight's debacle and injuries, I'd much rather the Saints keep their draft picks and not make next year's cap situation worse.

I agree Breese is great at times, but he need to be more consistent and needs to be better against the run. I have hope that he will get there, but I don't think he's there yet. In the meantime, the sacks are great.

He's a young DT and that is a position that most hope can just be a situational player in their early years. The fact he's so productive so soon is an excellent sign of his development, but the fact the Saints lean on him the way they do says a lot about the lack of talent around him. Can't miss as many early round DL picks as the Saints have. Hopefully they get it right this offseason.

That's certainly part of the issue, but even if you fix that it will mean nothing if the scouting doesn't get better.

Real #1s are hard to remove from the game completely like tonight. One key in football is you get your best players the ball at all costs. CO wasn’t beating his man off the line. His biggest contribution was his humpty dance impression that got us flagged

CO had McDuffie (2023 1st Team All Pro) in press with a Safety over the top often. It was what New England and Seattle did to the Saints when Graham was the only real receiving threat. They said "we will not change our coverage until you make us", and unfortunately the Saints never made them change their coverage. Before tonight's game, Olave had an 84% catch rate and could not be covered one on one. Tonight he wasn't covered one on one. Add in the complete inability for the Saints OL to pass block, and Carr had little time to read the field or let routes develop. We've also seen what happens when Carr just throws a prayer :covri:

Olave never had a chance tonight.

CSP was able to hit a few home runs with mid round OL draft picks, Carl Nicks was a 5th round pick, Terron Armstead was a third round pick, and Jahri Evans was a 4th round pick. This has been missing for the past 10 years.
