Observation on Carolina’s offense (2 Viewers)

I like Daniel Jeremiah’s analysis a lot. Found this interesting.

It makes me wonder if they’re protecting Young bc of the OLine? Is it about the WRs not being able to get open deep?

One thing I feel like we do well is beat up on teams who try to play in a phone booth. Historically, where we’ve struggled early in the season is with miscommunication on big plays.

Also…with Young’s height, the DL needs to get their hands up and tip some passes. Cam Jordan is one of the best in the league at that.

Probably all of the above lol

Bryce will feel so much pressure to make adjustments from last week while getting different looks. His head will be swimming.

I remember this narrative last year week 3 and week 2 in 2021. We lost to them both times. We have not won a week 2 game since 2018. Therefore, we are due but propose not being over confident.
Yep. We lose to them often. These types of statements always make me chuckle. (Beating them like a drum and such)

If the O-line can protect better, we will beat Carolina.

It's a big game. A divisional opponent on Monday Night Football to start a five-game stretch of four of five games on the road. We really need this one.

The Saints have a better D, a better QB, and better receivers. I think they win even if the O-line doesn't play better. But, I think the O-line will follow their usual trajectory and take about 3 games to get in sync. But, they will play better than game 1.

This is one of those upcoming games where we are the better team (player for player) and have no business losing. We need smart leadership (offense/defense coordinators, head coach and team captains). Good teams don’t let games like this slip away. We need to be ready, play smart and play to our strengths. Still won’t be easy and I too don’t trust the officials.

I like what Demario had to say in the locker room postgame when he told the team that the game was way closer than what it needed to be and they knew it. I love that mindset from a team leader and I hope they focus more and keep it going forward. There is no way that Carolina should beat us, but this is their type of game to take from us if we come in overconfident and cocky. This whole division was cheeks last year so I'm hoping our team takes advantage of every aspect of every game this year.

Regarding our o line being put in bad positions…you mean like putting them on the field?

Don’t give Dennis any ideas. No we have to limit obvious passing situations. Even if they get up a score on the obvious scripted trick play they will try we need to stay patient.
Best case would be a early quick score by us and make the rookie play against a defense with their ears pinned back. Make Frank think about putting Andy the Red in.

If Penning can get a grip we should win this comfortably. Give Carr time to throw and Olave, Thomas, Shaheed will all eat against a secondary missing its best player. There isn’t one player on that Carolina offense that I’m particularly worried about either, just full of mediocre players and led by a rookie.

Haven’t watched the game back but I thought the rest of the O-Line was generally ok on Sunday. Penning absolutely cannot play as badly as that again though, he looked like an UDFA we’d just pulled in off the streets. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say the game was only close because of him.
