Oddities in the MT13 Drama (2 Viewers)

Payton doesn't seem to be too concerned about MT. MT isn't helping himself with his cryptic tweets, but I don't think there's as much tension as the media and fans are making it out to be. MT is going to come back and I think he's going to have a pretty good season.

Enough with all the weeping a wailing.

It's entirely possible MT13 makes it through the first two years of his highest paid WR in history contract without catching a TD. Then he'll almost be 30 going into the third year and he's on Twitter crying.

Simple, this was all fleshed out between he and the team in early June. Then Rappaport got wind of it and turned it into something it's not to get clicks/attention. Mike is getting annoyed because it's now the "hot topic" in a slow news offseason.

This will all disappear when real games start and MT gets back on the field.

If this was his first offense with drama then maybe "little drama" would be fitting. Dude has been nothing but drama for the last year without any of the production.
Don't you have a storm to chase?

Unfortunately we have not heard the Coach or someone in the organization refute that assertion. Even Mike T has not refuted that one point. One has to conclude until there is some definitive rebuttal that it was true.
If anything that has been said or reported recently is untrue, by anyone, it would be very easy for team and/or player to shut it down and say that it’s incorrect.
That's really not how Sean Payton has ever rolled, though. So his silence -- other than what he's already said -- doesn't speak much to me, let alone volumes. But obviously half of us are wrong, the other half are right.

4 things That don’t make sense with Mike Thomas situation: A logical approach.

1) Why would Saints say bad things like “he wouldn’t return calls” about a player they want to trade. He’s already hurt and for one of the top Wr in the NFL, you want max return.

2) What team is giving things up for a an injured player that doesn’t return calls.

3) His contract is incentive based but has a large cap hit. So why would he purposely not play several weeks when he needs to hit benchmarks to make any of his money? So the whole he did it on purpose thing doesn’t make sense. And he’s got a $8 million dead cap hit this year and $22 mil dead cap next year. Doesn’t make sense to trade him. And it doesn’t make sense that he’d do anything to jeopardize his playing time.

4) You are already weak at WR. You’re not giving up one of the best in the league because of a little drama unless you get a significant return.
You're using common sense, stop that...

July 31st, 2019: Michael Thomas signs a 5 year 100 million dollar extension.

2019 stats: 144 catches (NFL record) 1,725 yards and 9 touchdowns.

You were saying...? Don't let those pesky facts get in the way of your narrative, bro.

Listen! Do you smell that? That is the sound of Thomas’ current social media activity….that super loud sound is crickets….

We all know the Saints keep things 'in-house' as well as any team in the league.

I am not sure how this got out, but MT is getting near headache territory and the team typically does not put up with it all that often...

As I said in one of the countless MT threads popping, we already suspended him last year and this could set up grounds for another...and depending on contract language, it may set up a scenario where we can eliminate a significant portion of his bonus money and thusly a lot of the dead cap hits...IF he doesn't get with the program.
The only way to eliminate any of the bonus money already paid to him is if he pays it back. A release for cause is about the only way to make him repay any of the signing bonus paid out for this year and that will likely take a couple of years in court. (This is what happened when Vick was released by Atlanta and it was 3-4 years before they got any back and got the cap credit.)

There is very little that hasn't been paid out left in his contract and none for this year.

I was wrong. I thought he signed after that year.
