7-1 Packers lost to Saints (5-2)
7-1 Cardinals lost to Packers (7-1)
7-1 Rams lost to Cardinals (7-1)
6-1 Cowboys lost to Buccaneers (6-2)
6-2 Buccaneers lost to Rams (7-1) and Saints (5-2)
5-2 Saints Panthers (4-4) and Giants (2-5)

Not only is it insane how many teams have just one loss (plus another two with only two losses) in a single conference this late in a season but also, even if this has happened before (four or more teams with one or less losses through week 8), I doubt the top five teams ever had this kind of strength of loss: 37-9 for an .804 winning decimal or 12.9 wins on a 16 game schedule or 13.7 wins on a 17 game schedule. The Saints' SOL is 6-9 or .400 or 6.4 wins on a 16 game schedule or 6.8 wins on a 17 game schedule. Not knocking them for this but just amazed at the SOL for the five teams above them plus how sharply that contrasts the Saints' SOL.

I'm more of a glass half full guy so I looked at strength of wins(SOW) or the record of the teams they beat and came up with:

TeamStrength of WinsWinning Percentage of Teams They Beat
7-1 PackersSOW 24-30.44 winning percentage
7-1 CardinalsSOW 25-28.47 winning percentage
7-1 RamsSOW 18-37.33 winning percentage
6-1 CowboysSOW 20-25.44 winning percentage
6-2 BuccaneersSOW 20-26.43 winning percentage
5-2 SaintsSOW 22-18.55 winning percentage
The Saints seem to play up to the level of competition or down to the level of competition depending on your perspective. When forecasting the Saints before the season I had the Saints beating Carolina, NYG, WFT and New England while losing to Green Bay, Seattle and Tampa Bay. Thank goodness sports betting wasn't legal in the state until today.:ROFLMAO:

I don’t consider the Carolina loss…had at least 5 starters and multiple coaches out which really affected the week of preparation and gameday communication.

Now the Giants game was an inexcusable loss…especially with lead we had.

That’s the Saints… capable of beating the best and losing to the worst.

Just have to take care of business and hope the other good teams beat up on each other

I stopped caring about a good seed after the last four seasons of bumbling through the playoffs despite having the Saints being seeded 4, 1, 3, 2, in order from 2017-20. If you can only muster 3 playoff wins in four years despite your average seed being 2.5 in the NFC, then no seeding is gonna save you. You need moxie and the ability to shake off big game jitters.

It's absurd that in 14 years of having Payton/Brees together that we only managed to win two games in a single postseason once. And yeah, 2018 shoulda been at least two wins without the ref forkover but the refs don't even get that chance if we keep our foot on the pedal and either grow the 13-0 lead or at least maintain it into the final minutes.

On the positive side, the Saints are the only team to beat two of the other contenders.

This.............. The Saints ALWAYS lay an egg against an inferior opponent... BUT this year we neat Rogers (6-1) and Brady (6-2) (too lazy this am to make sure the records are exactly right)....

Keep winning and things could break OUR way for a change
