As a Rookie in 2022 Chris Olave had 1,042 yards receiving. He managed that with sub-par QB play. He was the #1 Receiver all year with not much help after the first few games of the season.

He got off to a sizzling start in his first few games this year then cooled down a bit, but he has been the go-to guy in the offense and again he is the #1 Receiver getting sparse help in the passing game with erratic QB play. Opposing defenses know the Saints want to get Olave the ball and yet they can't totally shut him down. If he can remain healthy, he is on pace in 2023 to reach 1200 yards for the year.

His stats this year are similar to those of his Rookie year with his receiving yards per game, catch rate percentage, and success rate percentage, and longest reception on the year are almost identical. His yards per catch are down by just over 2 yards while his number of receptions per game is up by 1. He had 2 fumbles last year and he hasn't fumbled yet this year. He had 4 Receiving Touchdowns last year and he has 3 so far this year. If the offense can remember how to score, he should exceed his total touchdowns scored from last year.

Chris Olave has been the brightest spot in the Saints offense the past two years, and he should only get better, especially if the Saints get some quality QB play. Olave is the best young player the Saints have on the team and it's not even close. If the Saints can pair him with another dominant receiver next year to go along with him and Shaheed the Saints could become explosive on offense again.

For now let's hope he shakes off the concussion that knocked him out of last week's game in the 3rd quarter. He had a monster 1st half. Hopefully he can dial it in and pick it back up from where he left off.

My only concern with a Olave is that he doesn’t get so disillusioned with the Saints current situation that he demands to be traded next offseason. I have to be honest - if I were Olave I would.

It's odd... Olave seems to come alive when MT is not on the field.

He can, but he will have almost zero leverage with two years left on his deal and the fifth year option still on the table.

He could hold out and go to the press with stories of just how bad things are inside the Saints organization. He could easily make it impossible to keep him. It would hurt him image wise in the short term but what would be worse - wasting your best years on a team that is going to be bad for years or looking like a spoiled diva by forcing your way out? All the bad image stuff would be instantly forgotten after another 1,000 yard receiving season with his new team. Olave would be a household name in a bigger market. Teams would be lined up to trade for him.

I’m still not trading him if I’m Loomis, unless I’m getting a first round pick plus in the 2024 draft. In the last year of his deal it might make more sense to trade him for less, but I’m not giving up two years of my WR1 next year without a haul. He stands to make more money playing here anyway if he keeps turning in 1000 yard seasons.

Maybe Kansas City with give us a 1st, 2nd and fourth for him consid they will pick around 30

maybe we can use him as trade bait to move up for a QB! Chicago need a top receiver

Chicago has a top WR in Moore and they can get another in the draft with either Harrison, Nabers or Odunze.

Now, KC, they don't have anyone except Rice.

My other concern is that this isn't his first concussion. He has had two in two years now and the one last season against the Seahawks was scary as heck with him lying motionless in the endzone for a bit. He can't keep getting his brain scrambled and expect to have a long productive career in the NFL.

Shouldn't the 1000 yard standard be upped?
1000 yards was impressive back in the day when seasons were 12-14 games and the rules weren't as ticky-tacky in favor of the offense. But 17games with favorable rules? Currently, there are 5 players with over 1000 yards receiving, and at least another 10 on pace to reach 1000 yards.

He should really really be getting 1500 yards and 8-10 TDs regularly with several monster games a year. Unfortunately our offense is bad.

All the benchmarks yardage wise need to be upgraded. It only takes 59 yards a game to hit 1000 now
