This is huge right here, two 1st rd picks and seeing alot of speculation of Olave being traded. Would absolutely love to keep both and hoping and praying both can have an incredible healthy season.

Seen this yesterday, and mentioned what would be a trade, during the draft that would absolutely shock you and believe it or not these 2, plus Hill would be a dagger to the chest if traded.

One has to wonder, could this play factor in the upcoming draft? Gonna be a really interesting draft and super excited for it!

What yall thinking about this one?

Without much thought, my initial reaction is to trade Olave and give 5th year option to Penning.
My hang-up is concussions and Olave's trade value will never be higher than right now.
I'm willing to change my mind. Let's see how this thread develops.

Trade Olave before May 1st to allow his next team to decide on this 5th y/o.

Pick up 5th y/o on Penning, but extend him before his 5th year.
Your not getting much for Olave due to the concussion concerns and the 5th year option for Penning is a fully guaranteed at $16.7M. That’s a no for me.

Olave is a good player but he has had concussion/head injury problems dating back to college.

I agree with trading him.

Olave is a concussion medical decision. You either trade him or pick up the option. No way you decline the option & have him play on the team this season, if he has a healthy season he would be in line for a salary doubling $15-16M for the next 4 years.
You might extend Penning at a lower number but in no way you pick up that option.

Regarding Olave, A trade right now would not give us more than a second round pick. If we don't give him the 5th year option, there are two choices:

- Him playing great and we sign him to a long term deal.
- Him playing great and leaving for a rich contract that will give us a third round pick back.

If he does not have a good year, the point is moot.

I think the best decision is to wait and see..

As for Penning, I don't see this being a difficult decision, he has not play worth of an extension yet.

Depends on the draft. If we draft a RT and G, we should probably decline Penning. Olave is a hard no considering his concussion issues. But if we draft a RT, and try to slide Penning inside to RG or LG, and he excels it would certainly be worth it.
Agreed mostly with this one. Feel very badly for Olave, as he's a solidly organized system (which would presumably bring with it a better version of Carr than what we've seen, especially in gotta-have-it games) from being an elite WR2.

If he has another concussion which based on his history is very likely...

You get nothing for him!

Penning -
Not everyone lives up to draft status early in their career. Many players need a few years to develop. Sometimes they need a good coaching staff.
Penning looked much better this past year and his arrow looks to be pointed upward.
Wouldn't you hate if he left here after we developed him and he turned into a very solid RT for the next 10 years for someone else?

I don't think Olave really wants another year with the possibility of having Carr throw to him. Last year's concussion and having his family blame Carr on social media doesn't mesh well. Trade him now.
I would also consider moving on from Penning. He still can't stop a fast DE in pass protection.
