Only 6 more Owners needed to oust Goodell? (1 Viewer)

Well you know Patriots and Cowgirls will never vote him out.

Semi-related topic, Jerrah was an early cheerleader for the Rams being allowed to move back to Los Angeles. It makes the richer owners even richer. ESPN The Magazine had a long piece about how the owners' meeting went for that whole deal. Someone would have to find the link, from early 2016 sometime.

I wish he'd have linked the Denver Post story in the tweet so I don't have to go read his article to see if it's there. It isn't just laziness, I'm just not a big fan of his.

ETA: Here's the link to the Denver Post story from a year and a half ago: https://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/10...ones-unhappy-with-roger-goodell-commissioner/ which is actually CBS Boston. This and his claim that faceguarding was a missed call as well on the kill shot against TLL are the reasons I'm not a fan of his. He doesn't accurately source things and doesn't research to make sure he's got his story right before posting it.

This.

This dude, despite being a Saints fan, is an absolute clown and a hack of a “journalist” (using that term in its loosest definition possible). This is the same dude that got fired from Fansided for plagiarism.

I refuse to click on anything I see from him because you never know if it’s his words and thoughts you’re reading or someone else’s that is uncredited.

Thankfully someone here posted the article he was referencing (albeit he got the publishing company wrong, shocker) to save from clicking his tripe.

I'm confused as to how Ms. Benson wouldn't already be one of the 17.
She wasn't the owner when that article was written. It's a year and a half old. I'd assume Mr. Benson was in that number after Bountygate, but maybe not. Who knows? They didn't list the owners' names. I'm sure Ms. Gayle would be in for sure after the robbery she witnessed first hand and Goodell's handling of the whole thing.

Judging by Gayle’s letter . She wants changes. Looks like he is not going to do it. Fire his butt!

Surprised there are that many owners who are in favor of getting rid of him, hope they try and get more support in the off season.

If they're smart, they'll keep him around until the next CBA has been inked. The players hate him, he's not popular with fans, and he's been schizophrenic in maintaining discipline. But the owners (i.e., the league) can let him be the bad guy negotiating with the players and then push him out of the NFL offices with a golden parachute. They save face, as Roger has all of the taint, but still get an owner-friendly CBA out of it. And if things get sideways during negotiations, they can make him the scapegoat. His termination could even be a "concession" to the NFLPA.

I think this is the strategy.

I'm not sure I agree, regarding the Patriots. I have a lot of friends who are Patriot fans. One thing we have in common is a hatred of Goodell. They don't like him because of deflate gate. I think that's another organization that would fighting their way to the head of the "fire Goodell" line.

Ha I used to live in Boston! This is so much like a Pats fan. "We beat you down and won about 5 superbowls while you were the acting commissioner, and guess what? We hate you even more now!" Give up trying to kiss Kraft's butt Roger! Gratitude is the disease of dogs to both Josepf Stalin and any New Englander worth his salt.

And from the story I just read, it's only 20 votes required

Per Article VI, Section 6.5(G) of the NFL’s Constitution and Bylaws:
In the event that the Commissioner or any other officer of the League shall be convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude or be physically or mentally incapacitated to perform his duties or shall fail or refuse to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of the League, and the Executive Committee finds that such action by such officer is detrimental to the best interests of the League, or in the event the Commissioner or any other officer of the League fails or is unwilling to perform his duties, then such Committee shall have the power after notice and hearing to suspend or remove said officer and to terminate any contract between such Commissioner or officer and the League.
Per the NFL’s personal conduct policy, which was updated to include the more stringent policies for those charged of domestic violence, “all persons associated with the NFL are required to avoid “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League.”
Such “detrimental” conduct includes an action “that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.”
The conduct policy “applies to all players under contract; all coaches; all game officials; all full-time employees of the NFL, NFL clubs, and all NFL-related entities; all rookie players once they are selected in the NFL college draft; and all undrafted rookie players, unsigned veterans who were under contract in the prior League Year, and other prospective employees once they commence negotiations with a club concerning employment.”
And as stated in Article VI, Section 6.6 of the constitution: “All actions and decisions of the Executive Committee must be approved by the affirmative vote of not less than three-fourths or 20, whichever is greater, of the members of the Executive Committee.”
The Executive Committee is composed of one representative and one alternate representative from each of the 32 NFL teams, appointed by their respective teams. The members must be either owners or holders of an interest or officers of member clubs in the league, and each member holds one vote.

It says 3/4 or 20, whichever is higher, so 24 is required.

I'll never get the comments saying he'll never go anywhere cause he makes the owners money. I disagree, the NFL as a whole will always strive. I'm pretty sure the NFL could do a lot better if Goodell was gone.

Money talks man until the owners get back bones and realize more money would flow with a good commissioner they won't do anything and they sure as hell wont fire him before a Super Bowl and if the Super Bowl has a ratings bomb you could see some movement.

I'm not so sure the CBA will be so easy this time. Most players really do dislike (or hate) him and I can see them stalling or holding out to prolong the negotiations. I wouldn't even mind seeing a players strike if it could put us a little closer to getting rid of the Clown. And if bad press over the NFCCG continues after the fake bowl it might sour enough owners to consider it.
