N/S Panthers benched QB Bryce Young (Dalton starting)(Merged) (2 Viewers)

Dalton should have started last year from week one, but teams usually can’t help themselves. They need to put that first round QB on the field. I was surprised the Patriots showed enough restraint to start Brissett over Maye, at least for now.

Dalton gives fans watchable football. Canales can still give Bryce 30-40% of the reps while not losing the fans and team.

Did you read my entire post?
He’s not 5’9
I’m 5’9 and he’s taller than me, not by much but he is. You feel the need to completely dismiss any QB that is small in stature despite the talent and ability they may possess. It’s a very narrow way of thinking. It’s the same when people who talk about small RBs. It’s not the measure of a person but the measure of their heart. If a guy can play, then he can play. Bryce can play. He just hasn’t figured out what he can do to elevate himself or his team yet. Just my $.02

I’m aware of that, as I stand in front of him on a weekly basis. The point is Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, and Doug Flutie were/are not 6ft tall either. If size was the absolute issue, then none of those QBs would’ve found any success. Bryce is 5’10. Same as Kyler. Bryce is not in a great situation, but it is up to him to make it a good or manageable situation.
It I was a GM his height wouldn’t bother me as much as his frame. He’s so skinny he looks like a high school kid out there. Wilson and Brees are filled out and not string beans.

But Young landed in the worst possible situation. The Panthers might be the least talented team in the NFL and the organization is a dumpster fire. I think sitting a young QB is fine and maybe it’ll help him get his head on right. Learn the art of game prep and looking at film with Dalton. He might feel like he has to be a franchise savior and I don’t think anyone one player could save the kitties right now.

Will Levis is next.

I do agree that Bryce does not have a stocky type frame. He goes unnoticed by customers in my store bc he looks just like a regular guy.

The fans are already off the Bryce Young train. It happened after we destroyed them. It dominated all of the Charlotte sports talk radio and I am in contact with a great deal of their fanbase. They have all given up on Bryce. They already had one foot out of the door when they passed on CJ Stroud. This just gave them a reason to jump ship.

Hindsight...I remember before the draft people were not giving Stroud his due. For most draft "expert" and mocks, Young was the guy. If players were switch we might be talking about they passing on Young.

No doubt CJ didn’t get the respect that he deserved, but the Panthers fans, is who I’m referring to. They all wanted CJ and they thought it was a forgone conclusion that he was going to be the pick. For me, what CJ showed against Georgia should’ve been undeniable. No player or team, performed that well against that Georgia team. He was incredible.

I was never sold on Young but I’ll admit I thought the Buckeye curse would get Stroud liked it’s gotten 99.9% of those QB’s. He’s proven me wrong already.

I’m genuinely happy to be wrong as Stroud seems like an awesome human being.

Let's try this one more time..

I'm usually one of the few defending Murray and Wilson because they've proven to be anomalies. I think you're letting your selective fandom get the best of you- since neither you or anyone in agreement with you during this thread had ever vouched for either along with me.

No, I wasn't going to risk a #1 pick on Murray or Young. I definitely wasn't about to pay the cost to move up for Young. Sure, plenty of those checking all physical boxes have flopped. Still.. rest assured that I would've drafted Allen or Lamar before Murray and Young due to measurables. Accept it. Embrace it. I'm not even ashamed. I figure I'd only need to be right once, but I'm damn sure not about to risk my career on munchkins.

I don't need you soap-boxing me about the size of hearts etc. I know about under-sized players with heart making both Div 1 squads and the pros. Ill just leave it at that.

You aren't about to make this about some Bishop-type mentality, either.. My "narrow way of thinking" would jibe with many NFL entities when it comes to selecting franchise QBs. I believe the majority of FOs will think the measurables will trump intangibles such as heart with the fortunes of a franchise at stake...
