Panthers S Xavier Woods fined for illegal hit that concussed Olave. Is the Olave targeting a coincidence?? (1 Viewer)

Yeah, he's not a #1 at all, but that leaves the slot where he gets annihilated over the middle or the Z which is almost a waste of his skillset.

I am pretty sure a good OC could scheme some nice routes using Olave and a bigger receiver putting them both in good positions. I don't like him running those deep crossers and posts over the middle, just a death sentence.

Is he just going to run out of bounds or slide after being schemed open? He's going to still get hit and guys will go high for the knockout.

What I don't get is the outrage by Saints fans has been directed @ DC and not at the guy that has more roughness flags called on him than any other player since he came into the league!!!. It was clearly an attempt to take CO out of the game

Yeah, it makes no sense. The defender intentionally hit Olave with a head shot to take him out, yet we have "fans" blaming our own players.

I would have never drafted him. He has a below average RBS for a NFL WR, factor in what you mention above about his shoulders and that's another negative. His build is great for flag football.

To the OP, it's not a coincidence. Olave will always be targeted as long as he plays in the NFL. It's worth the penalty/fine to take the player out of the game.
That is the problem right there, they need to make it not worth the time. Ejection from the game a 30 yard penalty with offending player missing the following game with no pay for two weeks. Do that and we will see if it is worth it. Then if you see refs not calling it as headhunting then they get suspended as well for 6 games. The problem is the Commissioner and all of these NFL owners and bigwigs are too scared to implement any system that would protect a player anywhere near that level of punishment.

If the player such as in Woods case is a repeat offender you just lost your privilege as a NFL player you are fired.

Wasn’t it Carr’s fault?
Or Allens? I forget.

I’d say you don’t throw the post into single high safety with his hips already turned to Olave. Juwan was open on the seem.

Olave isn’t build to work the middle of the field.

NFL need to move to a 1mo recovery for concussions while having 53 active on gameday.

Olaves biggest problem with these types of hits is his slight frame.

His shoulders are so unbelievably narrow it offers him little to zero protection against helmet to helmet hits.

It's unfortunate but it's looking like he's just not built for the NFL.
A concussion has nothing to do with his body size. Looking for this same energy when a bigger guy, like Taysom, gets a concussion.

I believe his first concussion this season was on a quick out. Can’t work the middle, can’t work the sideline, what’s left?

The fine is good because it takes the concussion away and Olave can play now. Right?
