Saints Parsons after the game: “H*** NO to Fuaga & Penning being able to block us 1-on1” (1 Viewer)

He's right.

This OL is not overpowering people, they are outsmarting people. We are scheming pass rushers out of these games without asking Penning or Fuaga to constantly one-on-one top 5 players and win individual matchups. That's done with play design.

Have there been some one-on-ones? Sure, but they aren't seven-step drops where Penning has to hold up forever.

The days of "big man against big man" are over. It's all about scheme, including setting up false tendencies that cause guys like Parsons to question what to do in subsequent plays. This is good for us because you no longer need a physically dominant OL to dominate the scoreboard.
This is perfectly stated

That’s BRUTAL sarcasm, Marsha! :ezbill:

:gosaints:
LIke I told Andrus when I corrected his "bruised lung" to "pulmonary contusion", the Saints have arrived. I didn't just want to drop a plebeian "cool story, bro" burn on him. We can do better than that!

Parsons got blocked 1v1 by RB and TE, many times. He never knew where the block was coming from. Would have been a frustrating day for him. It's exactly what Schlereth said in last week's podcast. The way to deal with great DE is to hit them from all angles till they don't know where the blocker will be and get them delaying their pass rush.

He’s in pretty much every top 10 list and is in the top 5 in every list I’ve seen. He’s number 3 in the far majority. Heck PFF has him as the 5th best overall player in the NFL, 2nd best defensive player.

No real dog in the fight, just pointing it out
I understand your point but if there is one area that he's soft in it's defending the run.

He likes playing on his own terms but when the script gets flopped he tends to disappear when he's getting manhandled like it happened on Sunday.

After reading most of the comments its clear most just posted without watching. He was very respectful to the Saints, owned up to the fact that they got outplayed.

Yeah he stuck up for Zimmer, but that's what you want the leaders on your team to do.

At the end of the day Parson is clearly an elite NFL player, like lets me real anyone football fan would love to have this guy on there team.
