Past Super Bowl Ratings (1 Viewer)

NFL will say they had 109.7 million watch...which is a total joke.

The real number is another story and has everything to do with a collective middle finger a lot of people gave to the NFL this year. While MSY is one of the smallest markets in the league - the share of households they pull in is probably greater than half of the other NFL cities (80% of MSY households vs. 25% of Atlanta). It's hard to make that number up - even in LAX. Throw in no love in KC/Midwest and other parts. I'd like to think the real numbers are well below 97 million - like well below that.

But they will spin it into a positive somehow.

Doesn’t Nielsen calculate and report the ratings?

Why would they make something up?

Yes, they pay people to install their boxes in their homes so they can track what they are watching. They use a sample size of about .03% of the US population and from there they estimate the total number of households that watched a given show.

That's... an oddly specific number. Did it come from somewhere in particular?

Personally, I think it'll be below 100 million. Whether they can "manipulate" what they report, I do not know.

I remember when the Saints/Colts was the record breaker. Holy crap.
