Patriotswire proposes trade idea for Olave (10 Viewers)

Can you guarantee that he won't get his 6th concussion next year? If he gets it, how long will he be out? What about his 7th after that?

That's why you trade him sooner than later. Unless he stops having concussion, Olave's career isn't going to be a long one

Of course I can't and that's why I said it's a risk. And at the same point, you can't guarantee that he will have his 6th or 7th concussion. Maybe he strengthens his neck, puts on some muscle, and wears the guardian helmet and has no further issues. And maybe Moore does a better job of not putting him in vulnerable positions.

But if all you can get for him this year is a 4th or lower, it's not worth losing his production this year or the chance that he produces and stays healthy until the trade deadline at which point he might actually have some real value.

We can easily replace Olave's production.

You say that but Olave and MT are the only really productive WRs we have drafted in many years. So I don't think he's as easy to replace as you think. Beyond that, we have many other holes to fill or positions to upgrade. We don't need to create another hole to fill in exchange for a low round draft pick that is unlikely to fill any hole.

That's especially true when we are keeping Carr for this year in an effort to be competitive. If that's the plan, you don't trade a young 1,000 yard WR just because you think he might get hurt in the future. Especially not if the offer is a 4th round pick or lower.

Tough call. Loomis has been atrocious in his trades, though the Lattimore trade was decent. If Olave gets traded, he has to be replaced. Shaheed and MVS (?) would be the starters, but the Saints would almost have to draft a WR. It’s not good to be forced to draft any position. I’m leaning toward not trading him and hoping for the best. Then, reevaluate the situation after the end of the season.

I can feel an Olave trade coming. Just hope that the compensation is akin to what we got for Cooks - a late first rounder. It sucks, but it is what it is at this point.

Agreed. But I dont want to give up Olave to move from 9 to 4. Id rather stay at 9 and try to get a couple of early/middle round picks for him. I want picks. Depth, young guys on rookie contracts. Down the road starters. The future.

I think we need to send him on his way this offseason. He is just too injury prone and he doesnt have the frame to shake that. He lacks physicality, doesnt dominate space and who knows where his head is going to be.

I dont really care about the 144 for 129. That isnt a needle mover. To move from 9 to 4 by giving up Olave is just, dumb. Keep 9. Grab more picks, move on.

Whatever happens, Im confident Loomis will get fleeced.

Could it be for Chris Olave? He is mentioned in the article as a potential trade candidate.

Last Word On Sports article’s quoted Schultz report says Patriots are set to be aggressive in FA or trade for a WR because their cap space puts them in position to do so. The actual report doesn’t say that they’re working on a trade for a WR and doesn’t mention Chris Olave.

No one is making a "Block Buster" trade for Chris... the guy was a talented player.... But the entire NFL knows he's one crossing route from a really sad end to his career... No one is trading for him... Especially a "Block Buster".

If the Pats are dumb enough to trade anything for him... awesome! Take whatever.... I highly doubt that they are.

He should retire, and the Saints should collect the necessary picks to draft 2 WRs and a TE this year (or trade to bring some in themselves)
