Last I saw last night it was at 11 but didn't see final count and think we had 9 the first game. 10 penalty average isn't going to cut it. I'm sure there were a couple that weren't true penalties but the flag counted. That will kill us during games if we don't get that fixed. What I don't know is how many were 1st team penalties.

If you ain't get it yet, Most egregious penalties are reserved for the Saints, especially since we courted Gruden despite his ongoing beef with the league's front office. The preseason isn't just practice for the players. The refs are figuring out how to make ticky tac and bad foul calls seem justified.

If we won both games with the crazy number of penalties, getting that cleaned up means 40 burgers! Usually, that amount of penalties always means a loss. To overcome it is special. Get it cleaned up DA!

14 total accepted penalties against the B&G in this game (don't remember whether any were refused by the Bolts) is obviously unacceptable.

Need to demand better discipline. No excuses if for 14 penalties in a game.
I agree, but come on, don't you think this official crew was a little bit ticky tack on the flags? I counted about 5 that should have not been called

They miss some flagrant ones from the Chargers. Why didn't they eject the guy that hit the crown of his helmet on Heaner ?

There were a few penalties last night against the Saints that should not have been called. Was it home cooking or just refs calling it close in the pre-season? No doubt, the Saints need fewer actual penalties during the regular season. Without the penalty disparity last night it is likely the Saints win by 2-3 scores.

Since DA has been coaching, Penalties seemed to have increase. Maybe it's me but it's just something I have noticed. And the Saints have never been top of the league in the least amount of penalties.
I think DA needs to make it a point of emphasis. Penalties were a major problem last year and hasn’t changed in 2 preseason games this year.
I especially hate the defensive pass interference on under thrown passes that should be picks. Saints DBs never look back for the ball.

I don't think it's just our DB's. There is a reason that underthrown deep routes are so popular now. It's almost a guaranteed PI call, which is just as good as a completion. What I don't get is how have defenses not adjusted to this by now?

Maybe, but this has been a huge issue since DA became the HC

Last year in regards to penalties

Led the league in defensive holding

2nd in offensive holding

11th in penalty yards

6th in defensive PI
