Sorry buddy.. youre probably in for a rough time, but only b/c of the bond yall shared …. I feel like dogs are put here for a brief time to teach us lessons, then theyre gone…. my Brees has been gone a little over four months, i miss him every single day- but i keep reminding myself of the old Dr Suess quote- i try to remember: ‘dont cry because it’s over- smile, because it happened‘.. Job well done, Hartley .
That was beautifully said, I need to remember this.

Yeah Hartley never left my side thru all the spine surgeries, losing my business, and the divorce. She was one of a kind.
I feel cheated because she bounced back from the initial kidney issues and I thought I was going to get another year with her and she's gone a couple weeks later.
But I should feel grateful that I had her for 14 years. Just wasn't enough.
Cheated is a pretty good word. It was just so sudden.

His last day he seemed fine, regular appetite, active. The last time we let him out to go to the bathroom that night he was chasing deer away from the house.

And then a few hours later he was gone, and if my wife hadn’t of woken up we wouldn’t have had any idea of what happened.

She’s traumatized, of course, having nightmares reliving watching him die, and upset with herself for not waking me up right away. I’m just glad he wasn’t alone and that she was there to soothe him in his final moments.

And I’m ultimately grateful that my then nine year old son wouldn’t let us go home without him on that July day back in 2013, when I was set on getting a female since the other dog we had was a boy.

We went to a few places that day, and at the first one I remember telling my son “We’re not looking for any dog, we’re looking for the right dog.” And that’s exactly what he ended up being.

He was really special. He was my son’s puppy, but he was my dog, best one I ever had.

Sorry man. Our two BC's lived long, probably too long, but if one of our Aussies died anytime soon it would be dirty rotten cheating. There's less than a handful of humans whose death would be worse.

Right there with y'all. We had to put our old girl down just last week. We were fortunate to have over 16 years with her, so while we miss her like crazy, we're glad she's finally getting the rest she deserves.

To commemorate her, here's a picture of the time she incriminated herself by getting the lid of the trash can she was rooting around in stuck on her head for us to find when we got home. You were a goofball, Mandina. :)

Sorry for your loss

That's a hilarious picture

She was doing a lot better and then on Friday got an infection in her eye and stopped eating. Just put her to sleep. Going to miss you Hartley. Thanks for everything.
