Ok so lets toss away atlanta and Bucs cause a collapse is not reality, and even if bucs tie us its not going to happen we swept them.

Carolina we are 1 - 0 against, if we lose to them later in the year that would be 1-1 but they are 1-3 in the division we are 3-1

If we beat Atlanta we will be 11-2 with 3-1 in the division, don't we own the tiebreaker going forward and clinch?

or does Carolina also have to lose to Redskins for clinch?

No. Saints win in Atlanta and they clinch. Saints are 9-2, Carolina 5-6. Saints beat Atlanta they are 10-2, and the worst they can finish is 10-6 with a 4-2 record in the division. If Carolina wins out they finish 10-6, split with the Saints, and their division record will be 3-3.

Since the division record is the tiebreaker after head-to-head, the Saints win.

The best Carolina can go is 10-6. We need to win 2 more games or 1 more and sweep them I believe, but the way the nfc looks we can’t let off the gas if we want a first round bye. We will be in second place no matter what depending on the outcome of the 9ers and Packers, gotta keep winning.

Edit: a win thurs does secure the division
I wouldn't say anything but it's in the thread title so I have to ... "berth".
It irks me too ?

If I go into this article and switch it to win the division and put us as a win at the falcons and lose every other game we have a 100% chance of winning the division... so im thinking yes.

From what I can tell Saints clinch the division with any of the following:

- Win vs Falcons next week (clearly our favorite route!)
- Win vs Panthers in week 17
- Panthers loss to Falcons in week 14
- Any combo of Saints wins and Panthers losses of at least 2 (i.e. Magic Number of 2)
- Saints lose out, Panthers lose 1 game, and TB wins out (3 way tiebreaker at 9-7)

Panthers appear to win 2 way tiebreakers with us at 10-6 or 9-7 (based on record against common opponents)
We win 2 way tiebreaker against Bucs at 9-7 (based on head to head sweep)
In a 3 way tie with Panthers and Bucs at 9-7 we appear to win (based on head to head records among tied teams 3-1, vs 2-2, vs 1-3)

I thought someone was projected to have a baby during the Playoffs!?
