Please Explain how the Saints missed playoff's (1 Viewer)

^ ^ ^
it was a rough one to take, especially after the facemask that turned Reggie into an owl.

- gave game to Washington with 2 late TDs.
- gave game to Minnesota with stupid penalties and a non-challenge on the "gamewinning" TD (amongst other things)
- gave game away to Denver by not converting a 3rd and 1, which resulted in a missed FG.
- gave game to Tampa Bay by calling 100 pass plays in a downpour, which resulted in many stupid throws, that led to INTs that killed our chances.
- gave a game away in Chicago by allowing the Bears to dink and dunk all the way down the field to tie the game up, then left Roman Harper to defend the fastest guy on the field in overtime... which led to a PI.

Thats why we're not in the playoffs...

We pull out two of those games and we're gunning for an 11-5 finish this weekend and not worried about scenarios to get in. But yeah, those reasons are spot on.

Say they win out, and Atlanta, and Tampa both lose the rest of the way.
I can't remember why the Saints are eliminated.
Does not make since to me.

The NFL has a well documented tie breaker system. Go look on NFL.com

Besides that it'll be a miracle if any of those tie breakers are needed. First the winner of the Eagles Cowboys will have a better record than us straight up. Then both Atlanta and Tampa would both have to lose, one of which is playing the Raiders, just to have to tie so the tie breakers are needed.

And I haven't even mentioned that BOTH Minn an Chi beat us and would have to lose in order for us to even be considering tie breakers with the Bucs or Falcons.

This is all off the top of my head while on my BlackBerry, so double check my facts.

Wait a minute! Doesn't Atlanta already have 10 wins? That combined with the winner of the Eagles Cowboys game, the is no need for tie breakers. This question is moot...

What every one else said, come on man you know strength of schedule wins in conference games we lost too many NFC games, The Bears, The Vikings, Atlanta, Carolina. All of these teams were still in the hunt now they have the tie breaker against us.

The other reasons already repeated in no particular order...

1. Our Kickers prior to our new one missed some kicks that would have won us one or two more games potentially.

2. I hate to use this time honored excuse but we were on the wrong end of some bogus and questionable calls that cost us some games, Vikings, (too many bad calls, Brocos had some bad calls,
and need I say the Bears game we totally got robbed on some calls and the pass interference at the end was really questionable ). It was like the referees had it in for Payton and the Saints.

3. Our Defensive Coordinator is not agressive enough, We fail to get any kind of pass rush, we let QB's like Atlanta's rookie QB and Orton look like pro bowlers and future hall of famers. Our Defensive Play calling must get better.

4. Our Defense- I will add DE, and S play is poor DB play could be better but I believe it is directly linked to poor DE play and passive Defensive scheme.

5. Too many injuries I believe we have 18 players on injured reserve and key starters as well, we averaged over a player a week to injured reserve. And that is not counting injured players who recovered and played half of the season.

6. Payton too cute with the play calling, the cutesy plays when all we needed to do was line it up and run for 1 yard or 2 smash Duece, Stecker, Pierre, or Bush even. We really blew it in the second Tampa Bay game, running was working and Payton abandoned the run too soon. He decided to pass into weather and against the elements. It worked for a while but the all too predictable interceptions finally came from being too pass happy. I think he is finally seeing the benefits of a balanced offense.

7. This is for all the ones i missed, I know I missed plenty, I guess I can insert thanks to the NFL for having us play Chicago in Chicago in the winter again.
