This is beyond deplorable:

PHOENIX, AZ — A Black man, who is deaf and has cerebral palsy is facing felony aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges after he was repeatedly punched and tasered by a pair of Phoenix police officers.

The violent and rapid arrest of Tyron McAlpin raises serious questions and could serve as a test case for Phoenix and the Department of Justice as the two battle over whether the police department in America’s fifth-largest city needs federal oversight.

Acting on false claims from a white man under investigation, body camera video shows officers unexpectedly go after McAlpin, punch him in the head at least 10 times, Taser him four times, and wrap their arms around his neck.

“It’s hard for me to see how the city can come out and say with [a] straight face that it is meeting the DOJ report head-on when this man is being charged with assault on police officers for this incident,” said Jesse Showalter, one of McAlpin's attorneys.

...
The violent arrest stems from a morning call from Circle K employees who reported that a White man was causing problems and wouldn’t leave the store, records show.

While being trespassed, the man claimed he was assaulted by a Black man and pointed across the street at McAlpin.

Officers Harris and Sue took the man’s claims at face value and left him to go after McAlpin. (The man’s assault claim was later refuted by store employees and surveillance video, records show.)

I hope the Feds step in and arrest these thugs and remove the judge that granted them the probable cause for the case to move forward, even tough he has seen that video!!! WTH!!!!
:frack:
Edit: The prosecutor should also be facing misconduct charges for pursing any case against Mr. McAlpin based off the words of these KNOWN LIARS!!!!

So, was she the same County Attorney that was on the record during Mr McAlpin's initial probable cause for arrest hearing?

But, Phoenix police and Maricopa County prosecutors continue to pursue a criminal case against McAlpin. During a recent preliminary hearing, Maricopa County Superior Court Commissioner Nick Saccone found there was probable cause for his August 19, 2024, arrest.

If she was, why didn't she review the arrest footage then? If she wasn't, will the ADA that sought out these false felonious charges be facing any disciplinary action?

They were so Gung-Ho to pursue false charges against this man a week ago, the only thing that changed was the public backlashed they faced when the story became national.

Edit: The rest of the story...

Before the charges were officially dropped, Mitchell’s opponent in the race for county attorney also criticized her for not dismissing the charges sooner.

“I think this is a classic case of injustice,” Tamika Wooten said in an interview. “And Rachel Mitchell has the capacity to make it stop; and so far, she has chosen not to do that."

When asked if the officers should be criminally investigated, Wooten agreed.

Mitchel changed her mind because she's in a fight for her office. If this wasn't national news, her office would have prosecuted McAlpin, 🤬 her...and 🤬 these arse clowns as well:

The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) released the following statement Friday:

“We are appalled at the decision by Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell to dismiss the charges against Mr. McAlpin. The two Phoenix Police Officers involved in the incident were investigating a crime where the alleged victim had a visible injury from being robbed and assaulted. While gathering the information, the victim pointed the alleged suspect who was walking alone 40-50 yards away. After confirming he desired prosecution, they went to contact the suspect.

“The alleged suspect, Mr. McAlpin, attempted to avoid the officers and was ignoring their directions to stop. Our officer exited his marked patrol car in ful Phoenix Police uniform and attempted to grab the individual's arm to lawfully detain him and our officer was immediately assaulted. At no time did Mr. McAlpin convey to them that he was hearing impaired or suffered from cerebral palsy. Our officers defended themselves against the attack of Mr. McAlpin.

“It is unfortunate that a narrative was created accusing these officers of targeting Mr. McAlpin due to his race and disabilities. This is completely false and an inaccurate portrayal of what occurred in real time as the officers encountered Mr. McAlpin.

“What has transpired over the past week is an ugly smear campaign against Phoenix Police. The Phoenix Police Department provides training on how to interact with community members, victims and suspects, who are hearing impaired and/or disabled, however, we are also trained on how to defend ourselves iffaced with a violent individual intent on hurting us.

“We stand behind our officers and thank the men and women of the Phoenix Police Department for their service to our community.”

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A police sergeant allegedly instigated false arrests on the Las Vegas Strip and ordered other officers to lie on his behalf, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained Tuesday.

Metro police arrested Sgt. Kevin Menon, 42, on Friday, Aug. 30, at headquarters. The 8 News Now Investigators first reported Menon’s arrest. Menon, who was assigned to the department’s Tourist Safety Division, faces charges including oppression of color of office with force, subornation of perjury and battery on a protected person.

Investigators within the department believe Menon orchestrated fake arrests by instigating situations with the public without probable cause, documents said. In one case, Menon ordered the search of a car without any reason, police said. In another, the sergeant, who often worked in a plain clothes capacity, intentionally collided with a person on a pedestrian bridge, leading to their arrest, police investigators allege.

On June 27, Jayland Walker was pursued by police in a chase before dying by 60 bullet wounds to his body. This happened before the young man had the chance to plea his case. A week later on July 4th, Highland Park shooter Robert E. Crimo opened fire on a parade of people from a rooftop, killing some of them, wounding many yet he was taken into custody—alive.

Nearly every white suspect of a crime has been able to exercise their right to a fair trial. On the other hand a Black suspect may find themselves dead before they get a chance to be proven innocent. The recent cases of Jayland Walker and Robert E. Crimo demonstrate this phenomenon............

The family of Jayland Walker, a Black man killed when eight police officers fired 94 bullets at him after he shot at least one round out his car window, will receive a $4.8 million settlement from the city of Akron, the mayor's office said Monday.

A grand jury declined to indict the officers last year, but Walker's family accused the officers in a federal lawsuit of using excessive force and participating in a “culture of violence and racism” within Akron’s police department.

What began as a traffic stop on June 27, 2022, ended when Walker was shot 46 times in a hail of gunfire that upended the city with protests and heightened tensions with police. The investigation said police tried to stop Walker and then gave chase after seeing him driving with a broken taillight and a broken light on his rear license plate. Police said Walker refused to stop and then fired a shot from his car before fleeing on foot.

A city's announcement of the settlement says talks continue with Walker's family and the wider community on changing police procedures. The vehicle pursuit policy has been changed so that officers are not allowed to chase vehicles just for equipment violations.………

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A white former Ohio police officer has gone on trial Monday in the killing of Andre Hill, a Black man who was shot as he emerged from a garage holding a cellphone nearly four years ago.

Officer Adam Coy, a 17-year veteran of the Columbus police force, fatally shot Hill while responding to a neighbor’s noise complaint.

Coy, who was fired after the Dec. 22, 2020, shooting, has pleaded not guilty to murder, reckless homicide and related offenses. Coy’s attorney, Mark Collins, has said the officer thought he saw Hill with a silver revolver in his right hand.

Jury selection in his trial began Monday.

Coy had gone to the neighborhood to investigate a resident’s complaint about noise from a running car when he encountered Hill.

Police body camera footage showed Hill emerging from the garage of a friend’s house holding up a cellphone in his left hand, his right hand not visible, seconds before he was fatally shot by Coy.

About 10 minutes passed before officers at the scene began coming to the aid of Hill, who lay bleeding on the garage floor. He was pronounced dead at a hospital……..

"She was determined to see her husband’s dead body on the ground near the Tewa Motor Lodge, but three officers had to restrain her. His body was surrounded by evidence markers and crime scene tape as investigators were piecing together what happened. She was eventually escorted out of the scene and the officers deescalated the situation"...

"This is the 8th fatal officer involved shooting for 2024 for APD."

They don't seem to be very successful at deescalating situations!

“A black guy did it”

Learned from an early age and also learned that at worst it will buy you time, at best, you get away Scott free

No parole for you

A woman who rolled her car into a lake, killing her two sons, will be up for parole next month.

Susan Smith is serving life in prison after a jury decided not to sentence her to death in her 1995 murder trial. Under the law at the time, she is eligible to ask to be released after serving 30 years in prison.

Smith, 53, will be up for parole next month, nearly 30 years after she was convicted of rolling her car into a South Carolina lake and drowning her two children who were strapped in their car seats.

Her hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20, the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services said Monday. Parole hearings are done virtually in South Carolina with the inmate joining by a video call from prison.

Smith made international headlines in October 1994 when she said she was carjacked late at night near the city of Union and that a man drove away with her sons inside. Smith, who is white, said the carjacker was Black.

For nine days, Smith made numerous and sometimes tearful pleas asking that three-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex be returned safely.

But the whole time, the boys and Smith's car were at the bottom of nearby John D. Long Lake, authorities said.……

I'd vote no to parole for as long as I'm able. I've got sympathy for her family. For her, not so much.
