Curious to see what everyone prefencences to be our next head coach. I see a lot of people want an offensive guy/coordinator but does anyone prefer a defensive guy like Aaron Glenn or Mike Vrabel? Or do you prefer a middle man like a Dan Campbell or Rizzi who we can stay with? Everyone phrasing Campbell but his first two years wasn't good. And interims haven't all work out in the long run. I like Rizzi. He doesn't seem like your typical interims where just keeping the ship afloat. He is actually trying to get this team to win. Regardless who is the next head coach, I would love to keep Rizzi.

I would prefer an offensive guy to develop whoever is next in line at QB.

I admire Rizzi, but I would rather someone with more experience developing players and coaching in big games. I also just think we need to hire someone who hasn’t been in the building the last 3 years to deliver real change to the organization. Hang on to Rizzi for sure, but I hope we bring someone else in to be the head coach.

Offensive guy or Rizzi. That's it at this current juncture. ATL wasting all that offense with a their version of Dennis Allen.

I’d prefer a head coach with a balanced mindset. Sure, many of them will either specialize in offense, defense, or ST, but I think a good head coach understands that all three are very important and you can’t ignore one for the others. Additionally, I think a good head coach helps to give the team an identity, which, in my opinion, is very important. It’s rare for a team to be great in all three phases, but I think you should be known for what you’re good or great at, and everybody needs to know it, from the players, to the coaches, to the front office, to the fans, to the media, to the opposing teams.
Everybody knew that the Saints with Brees and Payton = scoring machine. 1985 Bears - great defense. The Ray Lewis and Ed Reed Ravens - great defense. The Patriots long run with Brady and Belichick - they were typically good in all three phases and turned it up 10 notches in the post season.

Sorry for being long-winded - I don’t have a preference between an offensive or defensive HC; would love someone who can bring balance by hiring high-performing coaches at each position and let them work.

A guy that they would run thru a wall for. Motivational and energetic. And if he can coach that’s a plus….J/K. Don’t care as long as they are on the cutting edge of either side of the ball.

Any coach that can connect with his players, can implement discipline/hard work, hold players accountable, understands the fine details, can troubleshoot problems, make in game adjustments, can create an identity for the team, a clear leader, knows how to speak without using the word “UMMM” or “I think” At nausea, and doesn’t apologize to a division rival.
Don’t care if that’s an offensive or defensive minded guy. As long as they win

Rizzi is that guy you described

Except for the cutting edge on either side of the ball part.

I like Rizzi and if he keeps winning like he is now maybe he earns the job. But I can't quite shake the feeling that the hype man head coach can have his message fall of deaf ears after a few years or when you start losing games. I'm thinking Ed Orgeron.

My main concern with Rizzi is that if he picks the right coordinators, it won't be long before they leave and you have to start over on both sides of the ball again. But, maybe there is some advantage to having a new look at the offense and defense every few years?

But, my preference would be an innovative offense coach that has some of the same leadership qualities that Rizzi has. I'd be okay with an innovative defense guy with the same traits, but it is an offensive league. But, in the end, I just want the best coach no matter what side of the ball he coaches. Frankly I kind of more care about getting a head coach who is good at talent evaluation that what side of the ball he coaches since the Saints, like most NFL teams, give the head coach a lot of say in who the team drafts.

I'm going against the grain and say defensive minded coach. I like what I see with Kubiak and the coaches that followed him here. An offensive coach would surely bring in his own people and completely start over. The defense needs a new blood. Pass rush is still an issue, running QBs are still an issue, run defense is abysmal.
