Gotta give Klint Kubiak his due today. He called a very good game. Middle screens, great play action and motion. Even a called run for Carr. He knew that the Browns would be all over MVS on the deep ball and tried to disguise it with Taysom Hill throwing. That didn't work but it was a good shot at taking a shot in an unconventional way

While I do want an offensive-minded HC , if we do go a defensive HC, I would make it contingent on him keeping Klint Kubiak. Or if we wind up keeping Rizzi

When you do not have to design plays to protect the offensive line from its self and you can call a game knowing the line will hold up this team can move the ball.

He is still coaching with a handicap with the injuries to Olave, Shaheed, Means and Miller.

I can only imagine how we will be next year after adding to the skill position with Olave, Shaheed and MVS as your top three returning guys. (If MVS resigns)

Absolutely crazy to me how this fanbase refuses to give this man credit.

The entire gameday forum was filled with people calling for Klints head. As if he wasn't missing his entire iOL, QB, WR1-3, and TH7 the past few weeks.

Heck he's still without a decent receiver but he's making it work the best he can.

Kubiak did a good job today, but it would be a really bad idea to tell any head coach, including Rizzi or a new guy, that they have to keep Kubiak. You let your HC pick their staff anything else is a really bad idea. And frankly, I doubt any good HC candidate would take the job if you forced an OC on him.

As far as Kubiak, he did a good job today, but he's also done a lot of questionable things this year. I'm still not convinced that there aren't better OCs out there, but he has the rest of the season to prove that he is.

Funny how Klints play calling suddenly looks better when he has his main weapons, plus a deep threat. Fact is, his play calling want ever really an issue. He was simply hamstrung due to injuries. Missing Taysom, Carr, 3/5 of his starting OL (McCoy arguably the biggest factor there), and his top 2 receivers going down at various times really put a strain on what he could do.

I’m not taking anything away from the changes that were made. Because I do think DA’s lack of energy and attention to detail were also a big factor.

That's because as always half the gameday board is drunk

What's your list of better OCs? We'd be stupid to change offenses after a year of building towards this one.

He was solid today

Still not a huge fan of the way he uses AK sometimes but I can’t argue with 35 points with bottom of the barrel WRs plus MVS.

TEs were good today,Juwan and Moreau have quietly had decent seasons between them.
35 points with no turnovers to give them short fields. One really good punt return, but otherwise drives/explosive plays.

I don't have a list. But I think Kubiak is too conservative at times and that he really hasn't gotten much better than when he was in Minnesota as the OC. I thought then he may have been overly conservative because of Zimmer, and maybe DA is the reason he has been overly conservative here, but like I said, he can prove me wrong the rest of the year.

Regardless, what would be stupid is to force a new HC to keep a\the current OC. You let them pick their own OC. Telling candidates that they have to keep the OC would be the dumb thing because no decent coach is going to take the job with that condition. If you hire a guy and he wants to keep Kubiak, great. But you don't force that on a HC.

But, if you really want to keep the Shanahan/Kubiak system, there are lots of other guys out there that run that offense. So it's not like you have to start over.

Ok what offensive coach like a QB coach or passing game coordinator is going to make a better OC than KK??
1st no OC currently on a team is going to take a lateral move, even if you make them Ast HC. Even if there was a promising ast coach out there that's not a playcalling OC right now they would have no experience calling plays.

If we hire an offensive HC then no, they probably would not keep KK. But if we hire a defensive HC then no I don't think it's a bad idea to unless the new guy strongly does not want KK have him keep him . AND I would have to seriously think about that defensive HC candidate that would not want to keep KK.
I don't think ANY OC would have done a better job with the amount of injuries that KK has had to deal with. PLUS I'd even consider keeping the whole offensive staff
OK like I said , you think there are better OCs available.............WHO?

LOL We had 2, count them TWO games with a healthy offense and the rest of the yr we were and still are a walking MASH unit and you want bombs thrown every other play?? AND 4 games with a rookie QB!!!
If you think ANY other OC could have done a better job then you need to step away from the vodka bottle.
If we have a defensive minded guy in mind and he does not VERY seriously want to keep KK and the entire O staff then I'd re-think that guy

I wish he would make some better adjustments coming out of halftime but he was pretty good today overall.

I agree with you. Overall, I feel like Kubiak has done a good job this year. His first 15 scripted plays are awesome, in pretty much all of the games this season. However, we often seem a little flat and conservative in the 2nd half. I love the motion plays, but they seem to usually happen in the first half.
