It had to be done. The guy had no leg whatsoever and that performance last game was atrocious. Glad to see we are making necessary changes and not just sticking with "our guys."

Report is from Mike Triplett.

You’ve been itching for this one since last year lol. Hayball has a superior leg

Got no qualms w/ decision. I understood Hedley and the net return logic but an inability to flip the field when needed was his ultimate downfall

I didn’t like the decision to go with Hedley over Gillikin. I understood the concern with the occasional bad punt but he was a young player with a strong leg and better upside. As it is, he finished 4th in gross average and 8th in net average for the Cardinals. Glad the staff was willing to keep looking for improvement and move on from a poor decision.

Yeah, I like the guys that can do the Australian Rules punts and regular punts depending on the situation but Hedley was too inconsistent and didn't have enough distance or hang time on regular punts. I'm also not sure that Hayball is the answer either. They will certainly be lookin on the waiver wire to see if anyone better gets cut.

I could see the logic of it before opposing teams caught on to the legality of simply destroying him. They gave him a shot at becoming a traditional punter. It just didn't work.

Nothing like seeing the Saints clinging to a one score lead in the fourth quarter, have to punt around midfield, and Hedley shanks it for a 15 yard net. Dude was so unclutch that it would have probably been statistically better to just go for it on 4th down even if it was 4th and 10.
