Punter Lou Hedley Cut (1 Viewer)

The downside of this is that we'll no longer lead the league in player neck tattoos.

Got no qualms w/ decision. I understood Hedley and the net return logic but an inability to flip the field when needed was his ultimate downfall

Agree. Hayball’s preseason long of 61 vs Hedley’s 49.

Needed to happen. Has a decent preseason last year, but has been below average ever since.

Punts on 3 and Outs is the most important job of a punter not mid field down and distance punts

Hedley was so confident about remaining the Punter for the Saints that he bought a house in the offseason about 5 minutes from the practice facility.

He didn't return home to Australia in the offseason. Instead, he stayed here working on getting better.

Rizzi has complimented Hedley on that commitment and also made a case for why net punting average isn't the end all in the punt game.

Just because Hedley has been cut doesn't necessarily mean that Hayball will make the Saints initial 53-man roster.

We're still over 4 hours away from the final cuts and the official initial 53-man rosters solidified.

There remains the possibility that the Saints will cut Hayball as well and set the initial 53-man roster without a punter on it.

If the Saints make that move it's more than likely that both Hayball and Hedley clear waivers and would be available Wednesday afternoon.

The list of punters ranked in this article doesn't include Hedley or Hayball in the top 32. It's a fan rated list so take it with a grain of salt.
