Mahomes played great when he had to. Last weekend I was watching that marathon of the 30 minute Super Bowl recaps, and the legendary John Facenda made the "great teams aren't always great / they're just great when they have to be" statement to sum up the Bradshaw-era Steelers initially struggling against a wild card Rams team before eventually making the necessary plays to pull away.
