Question for my fellow Cinephiles (3 Viewers)

which brings up another question. Why are musicals so polarizing. I enjoyed Annie when I was a kid. Wizard of Oz is probably my favorite movie of all time. But I can’t really think of another one I enjoyed. If you are acting and suddenly the whole set breaks out in song and dance, my suspension of disbelief is toast. Why can’t I buy into This being normal life behavior?

But a kid from queens bitten by an irradiated spider and gaining super powers seems normal?

nope but that is just me. I’m sure some find that normal without normalizing the sing dance stuff.

I obviously like singing and I can like dancing. I just can’t mix em up in movies. Unless it’s like White Nights. Now that I loved ..old old movie

except they're not all like that

oklahoma, south pacific, sound of music are okay storylines loaded with solos and duets of profound musical worth

vintagecinephobics always start with “I have lots of old movie friends..” when they are about to bash.

old movies make me sleepy. There it’s out in the open.
And I thought I knew you.

Technically BTTF *is* an old movie.. especially when you consider that we’re well further into the ‘future’ from 1985 than Marty was into the past when he traveled back to 1955.
Ugh.

I like old movies because when someone says "It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world", I'm glad I get the reference.

I do completely agree with that. And I hate that now we're making everything musicals. Spiderman The Musical. Seussical the Musical.

Springtime for Hitler.
