We've all be waiting for Jenkins to start making the INTs. He's come close, but hasn't completed the mission in the past. I have two questions if anyone knows the answers:

1. Has Jenkins been working on his hands? He has come so close in the past and just "hands of stone" dropped them. He looked SOLID this time and didn't even bobble them.

2. Is Jenkins playing different lately? It appeared to me that Jenkins was playing more roaming FS than security FS. I haven't really done the analysis of the defensive schemes and where Jenkins was and his movements to be sure. Has anyone done that? What were your conclusions?

Just curious if there was anything particularly different about Jenkins, or if it was just a good day.

He really is improving at a rapid pace. he is quickly becoming our best defensive player. He actually could of had 3 picks yesterday, another hit him right in the hands, but he dropped it. The first pick (6) was a thing of beauty.

He was the player of the game yesterday. He is a certified beast.

Look forward to hearing the answer to your 2nd question. Seemed like he wasn't 20 yards behind the line of scimmage all day yesterday.

Agreed. I don't have time right now to really pick apart what was different. I'm HOPING that the answer is that they are adjusting his position and play so that he can do more than sit back and be the last man in the backfield. I know that can be an important thing to have, but I'd like to see more big plays like Sharper used to do.

What is happening is Sharper is protecting the back end and MJ running free.

I missed that, was Sharper in on those plays that MJ made? I'm guessing nickel defense, with Sharper in?

I believe thats what they have been doing. Jenkins has been moving to Nickel and Sharper comes in as FS on packages when the OFF brings in 3 wides or more.

He is getting better but he dropped another one yesterday...he needs to get on the jugs machine everyday after practice he will eventually get those great hands if he works at it.

I noticed Sharper in on some nickel downs, but I wasn't sure how they were running the defense and when exactly Sharper was in or out. Every nickel/dime package? Or specific ones.

This is good info. I've been so distracted, I had forgotten that Sharper was in on nickel/dime packages, but now I remember. That helps.

Now we need someone to do some real analysis of how they are lining up and how Jenkins got there. ;)

Well MJ said on the 2nd INT he was supposed to be on the little guy but Sharper took him and MJ was free to watch Bradfords eyes. The first one was just a good play on a badly thrown ball.

I don't see how you can say he has "hands of stone". Harper has "hands of stone".

How many chances do you think he has had this year and dropped easy interceptions?

I honestly can't remember one.

He caught the one vs the Vikings (an incredible play actually) but was barely out of bounds (ran from about 25 yards away on a dead run to catch it).

Anybody care to explain the thinking here? His interception last year vs Tampa was maybe the best of the entire season in the NFL.

And I don't remember him dropping a 3rd interception in the Rams game. Maybe I missed that one.

On both interceptions, Jenkins made great breaks on the ball and neither one was really a "hands catch." He made good, solid catches, but those plays were more about his instincts.

One thing I noticed was that there were a couple plays where Jenkins had trouble in trail coverage locating balls thrown over his head. He's much better when the action is in front of him and he can use his intelligence and range to get where the play is going.

Harper's neck ... and hands, unfortunately ... are made of stone. Get with the Just for Men, Roman. You're too young to look so old.

Jenkins is improving, no question ... now, if only Patrick Robinson can do the same.
