I think he sees it. I think he sees something that is very tangible. Players know. Most try to be optimistic regardless of the circumstance, but players know when the roster looks talented, when practices are on another level. The can tell when a guy has stepped up. They're in the meetings. They know when players are getting it, when they're on the same page, when the guy that wasn't processing things is now reacting instinctively. Those are tangible things he can point to but it's probably best to leave unsaid.

I just read it as saying that he feels or senses the negativity based on last season and that he thinks we'll surprise some people this year.

No doubt we'll be better with the QB upgrade and easier schedule...but I don't know about 2009 vibes.

The team is pretty deep. There is nice talent on both the offensive defensive side of the ball. 3 of the biggest weaknesses were filled LB3 , RB2 and TE depth. And we got an upgrade at qb.
