Rams have called teams about trading Stafford (2 Viewers)

I wonder if this trade is being considered due to Stafford's health/commitment to the future and also salary cap implications. His "hit" this year would be around $50 million, but it drops to very amenable amounts over the next few years.

Who in the world would trade for him at this point? Lol that’s nuts to me. He’s washed.
Yeah he might not exactly be finished but that steep decline is now in place. That surgery he had where he couldn't touch a football for many months is concerning. He will never be the same QB he was in 21

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was reading how Sean McVay was hanging out with Matt Stafford in Cabo and that they absolutely loved each others' company, couldn't wait to start working with each other. Then they win a superbowl...so what happened? One little elbow injury and suddenly they are breaking up??

Browns trading for Stafford after trading the bank for Waston would be the most browns thing ever

The spinal cord injury may have been more serious than they let on. Numbness in legs is no joke. He opted for no surgery and it may not be healing as expected. I also remember talk about his elbow being a lingering issue. Lastly, teams don’t want to get stuck with 37-38yo QBs making 50M. Now is the time to move him.

Stafford should retire.
He’s already got a ring.
He’s probably the best or second best QB in Rams history.
Cash in your chips and let someone else have a spot at the blackjack table.

The sticking point is teams do not like to trade draft picks for anyone. It is bad enough they have to pay these players. But to lose draft picks on top of that is asking too much. This is the same problem with Lamar Jackson right now.
