Rashid Shaheed extended through 2025 (1 Viewer)

I’m wondering why we didn’t lock him up for longer? If he does well in KK’s system he’s just going to be that much more expensive to sign later on. If they can work him in space, I think he could have close to Deebo type numbers.
I’m sure his agent is thinking if he puts up a good year they could get more per year on a longer extension. This is a win-win as far as the team goes and how we have been operating this offseason. If he stays healthy and performs this year we should lock him up next off season with a longer term contract.

If it were a 2-3 year extension at that price, I’d be excited. He was going to be a RFA next year. We could’ve tendered him for 4-6mil. Instead we give him the money now. It’s kind of a nothing deal.

True, but we are very protected now in case he was to go absolutely bonkers next season and became a threat to sign an offer sheet elsewhere.

Unless I’m reading it wrong he’s only on a one year deal right now.

I know he was an ERFA and they reached the deal….for those who know the cap better than I do, will he be ERFA again or does he switch to RFA or UFA after this season???

Whatever he is I sure hope they get a long term deal done, love his game. He’s absolutely electric.

Who Dat.

They extended him earlier in preseason. So I think they have him under contract for this year and next year.

I'd love a longer term deal with him, but I don't think he is likely to sign a long term deal until he establishes himself fully as a top NFL WR. He's looked great so far, but if he keep playing like this, he could get Tyreke Hill money in a year or two.

Makes sense. I can’t and won’t be mad at him if that happens. Have loved his game from the jump but he’s becoming my favorite Saints receiver to watch, ever. And I’ve loved several of our receivers in my 40 plus years of watching.

He might be a pro bowler at WR when it's all said and done.

Absolutely incredible
We are only two games into the season, but I get your point. If we continue on this path and have an exceptional year (division winner, deep playoff run), a lot of young guys will line up for their payday. We will have to prioritize because Olave is WR1.
