With AK holding out and KM injured…..I would love for us to put Taysom as full time RB, instead of this random flex multi spot position thing he does now.

At least to me, he fully appears to have all of the attributes of a great RB. 12-16 carries a game on designed running plays.

He can block.
He can catch.
He’s tough as balls.
He’s got good instincts.
And most importantly, he’s tough as heck to bring down.

I’m pretty sure no defense would enjoy TH coming at them over and over all game.

Thoughts?

He wouldn't last half a season....even with the limited touches he has had there have been injuries, particularly when he played QB for a stretch....

I mean, if he was 25 then yeah, but he will be 34 when the season starts.....I think he will still be an important player in this offense but I see him getting between 6-10 touches max....

I think TH is at his best when he's got an open lane where he can build momentum before he gets contacted. In other words, he's better in space compared to taking snaps directly from the QB. (I don't think TH has a twitchy elite first-step-burst like elite RB's) id expect him to have success receiving pitches/tosses out of the backfield and screens and short passes in space. (just my thoughts anyway)

You might be right about Hill, but given how much he is paid, they are going to need to give him in the range of 10 to 15 touches per game and hope he can stay healthy.

Not only is AK not holding out, he said he’s going to play this season out and won’t hold out. … I hate being negative, OP … Goes against everything I believe in … But maybe you should read and study the news before making a post based on a totally erroroneous assumption. … although you are 100% right in that it is good to Taysom available.

How Taysom is used this season is certainly one of the more interesting things that I will be watching.

That said, learning the QB/RB mesh (as the RB) in a heavy play action offense seems like a tall task for someone who has never done it. Heck, he has been a QB his entire life and I'm still not sure if anyone trusts him to take a snap from under center.

I did see he’s “in attendance”…..but he also said it was so that he wouldn’t be fined.

I hope I’m wrong and he is fully ready to play without the contract being an issue.

He (Hill) wouldn't last half a season.

A statement made based on pure assumption and without factual data to back it up.

Injuries are part of the game. Only a very few NFL players will go through an entire career without having some type of injurie(s).

The notion or narrative that Hill has been often injured as an NFL player has been debunked before. He's actually been quite durable throughout his 7 year career.

To put things in perspective, consider the Saints players who started their careers with the Saints in 2017 and are still with the Saints as of now.

1. Ryan Ramczyk - Drafted in the 1st Round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Was an iron man early in his career. Has missed a total of 13 games in his career to this point due to injury. Will miss all 17 games of the 2024 season and may not ever play another down.

2. Marshon Lattimore - Drafted in the 1st Round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Missed just a few games throughout the early part of his career. He has missed 17 of the last 34 games due to injury, a total of 22 games over his career to this point.

3. Alvin Kamara - Drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Has been quite durable throughout his career having missed only 8 games to this point due to injury.

4. Taysom Hill - Undrafted in 2017. Like Kamara, TH7 has only missed 7 games throughout his career due to injury to this point.

I mean, if he was 25 then yeah, but he will be 34 when the season starts.

Hill entered the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted rookie free agent at the age of 27. He didn't have a single offensive snap in 2017.

There's that thing about Father Time being undefeated with the exception of TH7. Chuck Norris once witnessed Taysom Hill taking Father Time out behind the woodshed.

Taysom Hill is the only NFL player in history to have multiple seasons at the age of 30 or over to have a season with a rushing average of 5.0 yards per carry or more.

He's now done so for 4 years in a row.

For Hill, 34 is the new 25.

I think he will still be an important player in this offense, but I see him getting between 6-10 touches max....

Hill getting between 6 and 10 touches is a winning formula for the Saints throughout his career. Unfortunately, past coaching staffs have failed to realize that and have not used Hill enough throughout his career. He has averaged less than 5 touches per game throughout his career to this point. He was never given more than 25% of the team's offensive snaps until the 2020 season, when he was 30 years old. One of the first things Kubiak did after being hired as the Saints new OC was to fly to Salt Lake City and meet with Taysom to lay out his vision for Hill in his offense. We are being told that Hill will have an even greater expanded role in the offense beginning in 2024. We will soon see what number of touches Hill will get each game distributed primarily between rushing and receiving with the possibility of a few passes thrown and maybe some kickoffs returned.

You might be right about Hill, but given how much he is paid, they are going to need to give him in the range of 10 to 15 touches per game and hope he can stay healthy.

Kubiak won't base his gameplan on how much money each player is getting paid. A player can have a greater overall impact to the game with the number of snaps he has to be accounted for beyond the actual number of touches he gets per game. You've made the statement above before regarding number of touches to justify how much he is being paid. And as you can see, I don't necessarily wholeheartedly agree, although I do fully expect to see Hills number of touches increase in 2024 beyond his career average number of touches. Keep in mind Hill doesn't get to choose how many touches he gets. Certainly, we all hope the 2024 Saints will have a relatively injury free season, Hill included.

Pay doesn't correlate to touches on any football team serious about how it goes about it's business. You get touches based on what you earn in practice and what the team needs to succeed from one play to the next.

He obviously intends on playing next year, too. Look at all the AK41 videos from yesterday and today. He won’t play for the Saints next year under the current contract, but he obviously plans on playing somewhere next year, and he wants it to be in NOLA, so I fully expect he’ll totally “ball out” this season to get a 2025 contract from somebody. And the better he plays the more 💰 that will get him in 2025. Hopefully the Saints realize that and will lock him down to a better contract as far as reasonable guarantees soon, as in this season. I don’t think his concern is about totally money as much as guarantees. I think they’ll come to a compromise. The Miller situation only helps Kamara’s point that the current contract needs changing because the Saints were never going to keep him in 2025 the way the current contract reads.
