Redneck Caviar (1 Viewer)

I thought for sure that this was going to talk about a new restaurant advertising caviar or sushi made from catfish eggs

Nice! I love me some boiled peanuts.

The Publix near my house sells these in the produce section (they are fresh and have fairly quick expiration dates - so they're pretty high quality). I get them and will throw about a third of the bag into a bowl, pour over some water (about 1/3 of the bowl) and microwave it for 45 seconds. Tastes like they just came out of the kettle. Given the comparatively small amount of effort required, it's a pretty good way to get the boiled peanut fix. And doing that you get about three nice snacks from one bag.

Hardy Farms is where we got last year's bushel, and they are high quality and big.

Yatwoman prefers the smaller goobers and the ATL farmer's market didn't have any, so we drove south in yesterday's storms :freak7: to pick some up.

We boil and freeze them so she can fix any peanut Jones for the next several months. Today's labors are a good reason to drink.

UPDATE, 2 NOV: steeped everybody overnite and sorted/bagged this morning. A bushel of small Valencias yielded 25 flattened gallon baggies (plus test rations along the way.)
