N/S Reggie Bush once again blasts NCAA about his Heisman (1 Viewer)

He's got every right to be salty. The NCAA is a bunch of self serving hypocrites. Almost like the NFL 🤔

I have always held the opinion that he shouldn't have lost it/been forced to surrender it, to begin with. His off the field missteps do not take away the fact he was hands down the best player in college football that year. He shouldn't have lost his Heisman. Punished, sure, but don't take away the Heisman for his mistakes. He wasn't a criminal at USC.

The Heisman Trophy is about athletic achievement, not about whether the school obeyed the rules at the time. If the school bought several highly sought after players in order to vie for a championship, the punishment should be to the school, and the successes of that team should no longer be part of statistical records. (And that’s what officially happened)

However the trophy is based on the achievement of the player on the football field. It’s not an award that is given to the most ethical player. There are college football awards for academic achievement and even community support. The Heisman winners all received their award for their performance as a football player who made the biggest impact for the benefit of his team.

The school got punished for how they acquired Reggie. But that money didn’t automatically make him a better player. And I would feel the same even if he never started his NFL career for the Saints.

If the NCAA wanted, if they investigated every Heisman winner, every single one would be taken away. You can't tell me with a straight face that every single Heisman winner hasn't done something under the table. You can argue well, most didn't do it as much as Reggie, but then you would be just making excuses...

Can't say that I blame him. He earned that award on the field. The violations took place off the field. You penalize the school and program, not the individual who's play on the field rightfully earned the award. JMHO.

Pete Carrol was a PO*** for throwing him under the bus, then bolting for the NFL.. I'll never respect that guy.

Stripping Lance Armstrong of the TDF titles, I can see. He manipulated the actual competition. But also, everyone was doing it. Lance was just better. But I get the idea that even though he was the best amongst people doing the same thing, you cant let him have the titles.

But Reggie, was clearly the best player in CFB that season. It wasnt even close. He didnt do anything to manipulate what happened on the field. Give the man his trophy back. The NCAA needs to look in the mirror and see how they created this problem for themselves.

Give the Heisman Trophy back to Reggie Bush.

The NCAA was the real cheater, not Bush.

For decades, the NCAA perpetrated something close to a crime, defrauding Bush and other college athletes of their name, image and likeness rights, only to invert the morals of the situation and brand the young champion the criminal for accepting what he merely was entitled to.

Give the Heisman back. It’s stolen property.

With Southern Cal’s return to prominence as a bowl contender and producer of Heisman winners, it’s impossible not to recall that 2005 season when Bush led the Trojans to the national championship game with such sudden bursting speed and jagged changes of direction that his runs felt like firebolts.

Remember how he could shimmy through the smallest opening, turn a shoulder and hip sideways and then, with one foot jab, explode up the field in an act of pure combustion?

He might have been the most exciting collegiate runner of the modern era, and every yard was an act of headlong devotion.
“I never cheated this game,” Bush tweeted last summer when he launched a campaign to recover his trophy from the NCAA and the Heisman Trust. “That was what they wanted you to believe about me.”………

He still won the Heisman.... Whether they agree or not
