Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Red Foxx really just taking his "act" to sitcom in that role? I don't know if it's a replaceable character, for lack of a better term, as much as a vehicle to showcase Red Foxx. Like, can you replace Seinfeld in Seinfeld? Or Bill Cosby on the Cosby Show?

I like the thread idea, I think this is a tough example to start with.

I think it would be easier to replace Seinfeld and Cosby than Foxx.
